LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Thirty-one Nebraska recipients have been selected to receive about $500,000 in loans and grants to be used to make energy-efficiency improvements that will promote energy conservation.
Nebraska U.S. Agriculture Department Rural Development Director Maxine Moul said the dollars awarded will greatly benefit ag producers and businesses in rural Nebraska.
She said the projects will allow energy consumption to be reduced, making more dollars available to be kept with the ag producers and businesses and for possible reinvestment into the rural economy.
The funding was made available through the Rural Energy for America Program.
This program provides opportunities for farmers and rural small business owners to install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements, as well explore the feasibility of implementing renewable energy projects.
