| Many livestock auctions keeping busy!! |
|
BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. (AP) - A lack of rain and livestock feed is keeping some South Dakota livestock auction barns busy. Some ranchers are selling their cattle because their pastures are drying up and they don't have enough feed to keep them. At Thursday's auction at the Belle Fourche Livestock Exchange, more than 2,000 head of cattle were sold. Normally at this time of year, the exchange sells 300 to 400 cattle. Livestock Exchange owner Dean Strong tells KELO-TV (http://bit.ly/Mw49V1) that some ranchers are having to sell yearlings and calves at smaller weights, and that costs them money. --- Information from: KELO-TV, http://www.keloland.com
