We had little league baseball take place last night. The Lyman Rookies defeated Winner Gold by a final of 3-0. The Burke Minors beat Colome, 9-0. The Burke Rookies were able to hold off Colome, 1-0. The Burke Majors scored a 12-2 win over Colome last night. In Amateur Baseball, South Central was able to hold off Kimball/White Lake, 6-5. Mt. Vernon defeated Platte, 5-2. Hayden Kuiper had three hits for the Killer Tomatoes. Miller beat Chamberlain last night, 5-1. Zach Zimprich doubled and drove in a run for the Mallards.

Memorial Golf Tournament to be held next month in Gregory

There is an important, big date that you need to mark down on your calendars for the month of June! The tenth annual Gregory Golf Club Memorial Tournament will take place on Saturday, June 24th at the Gregory Golf Course. It is a two person scramble and is limited to the first 72 teams. To get your two person team signed up call the Clubhouse at 835-8134.

Softball from Wednesday

Thanks to those who sent in softball scores from Wednesday Night! The Winner and Lyman 8 and under teams ended up tying. The Winner ten and under squad beat Lyman, 2-0. The Burke Royals beat Platte in a 12 and under doubleheader. Madelyn Cason pitched a no-hitter in the 7-0 game one victory. Game two, the Royals won, 19-1 as Adisyn Indahl was the winning pitcher. The Clearfield ten and under team fell to Gregory, 1-0. The 12 and under Clearfield girls tied with Gregory by a final of 9-9. In 18 and under softball, Winner beat Buntroc, 8-7 in game one. In game two, Winner fell to Jo Softball, 6-5.

Burke/South Central and Platte/Geddes win region titles Tuesday in Mitchell

The Region 4B Golf Meets were held Tuesday in Mitchell. The Burke/South Central girls won the team title as they finished with 271 points. Tressa Bull and Taylee Indahl of Burke/South Central both shot an 87 after 18 holes and had to go two playoff holes to determine a winner as Bull finished first overall. On the boys side, Platte/Geddes ended up winning the team title with 244 points. Riley Hoffman of Platte/Geddes and Jon Bakke of Gregory each shot a 79 and had to go to two playoff holes to determine a winner. Hoffman ended up as the victor.

Honkers headed to State B Tournament!

Congratulations to Coach Jeff Kuiper and Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian/White Lake/Corsica-Stickney on punching their ticket to the State ‘B’ Tournament in Sioux Falls for next Monday. They beat Winner/Colome in the East Division Final, 5-3. The Honkers scored five times in the first inning and were able to hold off a Royal rally in the seventh inning. Blake Moke was the winning pitcher as he struck out seven. The Honkers then went on to beat St. Thomas More for the Region 4 Championship last night, 3-2. Riley Hoffman was the winning pitcher as he struck out ten in five innings and only allowed two hits.
