Six area schools to celebrate prom next week!

It’s hard to believe that prom season is almost here for a good number of our area schools! Six schools- Kimball, Platte/Geddes, Gregory, Chamberlain, South Central and Jones County willl all be celebrating prom on Saturday, April 7th. Stay tuned to KWYR News in the coming days to hear from a representative from each school as they give us the details on each prom event. All of us here at KWYR wish all prom goers a fun and safe prom season!

Bassett and Gregory to hold blood drives soon

There will be a blood drive in Bassett on April 2nd from noon-6pm at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Appointments can be made by calling the Rock County Hospital at 402-684-3366. Gregory will host a blood drive on April 5th from 12:30-6pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium. To make an appointment call 1-800-287-4903.

Tuesday reminders

The public is welcome to attend a meeting at 10am this morning concerning the new County Shop that will be built in Winner. The meeting will happen at the Tripp County Commissioners meeting room inside the Courthouse. Colome High School’s Senior Class will hold it’s public display night from 5-6:30 in the Colome Gym. The public is invited to see the projects that the seniors have completed this year. Community Memorial Hospital’s annual meeting and customer appreciation supper will be held tonight at the Burke Civic Center. A meal will be served prior to the meeting at 6pm with the meeting to get underway at 7. All persons interested in the hospital and its operations are invited and encouraged to attend the annual event.

Annual meeting and supper set for Tuesday

Community Memorial Hospital’s annual meeting and customer appreciation supper will be held on Tuesday, March 27th at the Burke Civic Center. A meal will be served prior to the meeting at 6pm with the meeting to get underway at 7. All persons interested in the hospital and its operations are invited and encouraged to attend the annual event tomorrow night.

Colome Pink Ladies to egg houses this weekend

The Colome Pink Ladies are holding an ‘Egg my House’ fundraiser! Children can wake up on Easter morning to a yard covered in plastic Easter Eggs filled with candy! The cost for the fundraiser is twenty five dollars per dozen and all proceeds will go to local cancer fighters. This is limited to the towns of Colome and Winner. You must RSVP by Wednesday by calling Tara at 840-0280 or Chrissy at 840-0343.

Kindergarten screenings coming up

Kindergarten screenings and a registration day will take place for Platte/Geddes Elementary School on Monday, March 26th from 8:30-2. To register for a time please call the school at 337-2468. The Winner School District will be conducting it’s annual Kindergarten/Begindergarten screenings for next school year on Friday, April 13th. To make an appointment, contact the Elementary Office at 842-8170.

Blood drives coming up in Gregory and Winner

There will be a blood drive in Winner on Monday, March 26th from 11:30am-5:30pm, and on Tuesday, March 27th from 8am-Noon at the Winner City Office. To make an appointment call Kelly Assman at 842-8125. Gregory will host a blood drive on Thursday, April 5th from 12:30-6pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium. Christa Peterson benefit to happen March 31st

There will be a fundraiser for Christa Peterson, a teacher in the Platte/Geddes School District. Christa was injured in a fall in January. There will be a meal on Saturday, March 31st at the Platte/Geddes School over lunch time. This will be a free will offering event with proceeds to go toward Christa’s recovery and show the community’s support towards Christa and her family.
