Pool Tournament coming up Sunday

The Black Lab in Winner will be hosting a pool tournament this Sunday, February 25th! It will be a singles tournament with signup starting at 3:30pm and the tournament will get underway at 4. League rules will apply and it will be a twenty dollar buy in with one hundred percent payback and is double elimination. If you have questions call 842-3003.

Thursday reminders

There will be a sendoff for the state bound Winner Area wrestlers at 7:50am this morning at the Winner National Guard Armory. There will be a send off for the Chamberlain wrestlers at 11am this morning. The annual Michael Wegener Implement Consignment Auction will get underway at 9am in Cornlea, Nebraska. A blood drive will run from 9am-12:30 at the Bonesteel Community Center. Give the gift of life!

Platte news

There will be a free public CPR class on February 26th from 6-7:30pm at the Platte Avera Healthcare Center. You must register by the end of the day today by calling 337-3364. This is not a certification class. In other news, the city of Platte is looking for individuals for summer employment. Applications and job descriptions are available from the City Finance Office. They will accept applications until March 1st.

Farm Ranch Clinic to be held next week

Keep in mind that a free Farm and Ranch Clinic will be held next week on Wednesday, February 28th in Valentine, Nebraska. Mathis Implement Open House happening

Mathis Implement, your Case/IH dealer in Winner, is celebrating their 60th year with a big open house running through Saturday, February 24th! There will be cash discounts each of the six days along with displays, door prizes and a free lunch this Friday, February 23rd from 11:30 to 2pm. Make plans to stop by and check it out!

Platte fundraiser to be held March 31st

There will be a fundraiser for Christa Peterson, a teacher in the Platte/Geddes School District. Christa was injured in a fall in January. There will be a meal on Saturday, March 31st at the Platte/Geddes School over lunch time. This will be a free will offering event with proceeds to go toward Christa’s recovery and show the community’s support towards Christa and her family.

Brule County happenings this week

Here are a couple of things that will be happening in Brule County this week: The Brule County Democrats will be meeting on Thursday, February 22nd at noon in the back room of the Anchor Grille in Chamberlain. A wine tasting event is set to happen at the Arrowhead Resort at Cedar Shore in Oacoma this Saturday, February 24th beginning at 6:30pm. Reservations are required. Call 734-6376.

Play to be presented in Reliance this weekend

The Reliance Area Community Development group have formed a thrivent financial action team and will present the play ‘Hotel Pickle’ in Reliance this Friday and Saturday, Feburary 23rd and 24th! Doors will open at 6pm and they will serve hors d’oeurves followed by a roast beef dinner. Tickets are available by calling Janelle at 680-3013.

Blood drives to happen this week

There will be a blood drive in Burke on Tuesday, February 20th from 11:45am-5:15pm at the Civic Center. To make an appointment call Vickie at 830-2447. Colome will hold a blood drive on February 22nd from 2-5:30pm at the American Legion. Call Vicki to make an appointment at 842-0270. Bonesteel will host a blood drive on February 22nd from 9-12:30 at the Community Center. Call Jeff or Laurie at 654-2831 to schedule an appointment.

Empty Bowls event coming up on the 27th

Feeding South Dakota will be hosting an Empty Bowls event on Tuesday, February 27th starting at 5:30pm at the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pierre.
