Many Little League Baseball games took place last night. The Clearfield Rookies defeated Gregory 1 by a final score of 4-3. Max Feisterman was the winning pitcher. The Gregory Minors beat Clearfield, 2-1. Lincoln Juracek picked up the win on the mound for Gergory. The Clearfield Majors scored a 13-3 victory against Gregory as Landon Calhoon was the winning pitcher. The Winner Purple Majors defeated Winner Gold, 11-3. The Burke Rookies shutout Lyman, 2-0 and the Burke Minors scored a 4-3 victory against Lyman. The Winner Purple Rookies beat Winner Gold 5-3 while the Winner Purple Minors beat Winner Gold, 6-0. The Colome Minors picked up a 9-5 win over Valentine while the Colome Majors edged Valentine, 4-3.

Lady Cougars win State 'B' Title!
Congratulations to the Burke/South Central Girls Golf team on winning the State B Tournament in Watertown on Tuesday! The Lady Cougars finished with a 523 team score, 19 scores ahead of second place Deubrook Area. Tressa Bull of Burke/South Central was the medalist as she finished with a 167 two day score, one shot ahead of her teammate, Taylee Indahl. In Dell Rapids, Belle Fourche won the girls Class ‘A’ team title with a 735 team score. Sioux Falls Christian was second with a 747. Winner Area was tenth with an 817. Payson Birkeland of Belle Fourche was the medalist as she shot a 159, one shot ahead of Alex Kandolin of St. Thomas More. Winner Area’s Ronae Klein tied for 11th with a 176. In Watertown, Great Plains Lutheran won the Boys State B Tournament with a 472 score. Platte/Geddes tied for second with Parker as both teams finished with a 498. Gregory was 7th with a 513. Judah Aderhold of Aberdeen Christian was the medalist as he shot a 148. JJ Beck of Gregory was runner up as he carded a 150. Brody Boltjes of Platte/Geddes finished seventh with a 158.

It was a very busy night on the ball diamond last night. The Gregory Junior Teeners defeated Winner, 4-0. The Winner Junior Legion team beat Gregory, 17-9. The Platte Teeners scored an 8-2 victory over Parkston. The Platte Junior Teeners beat Parkston, 13-5. The Kimball/White Lake Junior Teeners fell to Corsica/Stickney last night 13-3 and the Kimball/White Lake Teeners shutout Corsica/Stickney, 11-0. The Mission Junior Teeners were able to defeat Colome, 22-3. In girls softball last night, the Gregory 14U team beat Burke, 9-2. The Chamberlain 14U squad beat Bassett in a high scoring game, 18-15. The Winner 8U team tied with Ainsworth 0-0. The Platte/Geddes girls beat Colome, 16-0. The Winner 14U team beat Bassett, 13-1.
State Golf highlights from Monday
The Burke/South Central girls golf team is atop of the standings at the State ‘B’ Tournament in Watertown entering play today. The Lady Cougars finished the day Monday with a 263 score, five shots ahead of Howard. Tressa Bull is tied atop the individual leaderboard with Howard’s Maddie Palmquist as both girls shot an 84 yesterday. Taylee Indahl of Burke/South Central enters play today in third place overall and just one shot off the lead. At the Boys State ‘B’ Tournament, Great Plains Lutheran is atop the team standings as they finished with a 239 on Monday, nine shots ahead of second place Platte/Geddes. Gregory’s J.J. Beck and Brody Boltjes of Platte/Geddes are tied for second overall as both guys carded 77’s on Monday, one shot back of the leader, Devan Weelborg of Hamlin. At the Girls State ‘A’ Tournament in Dell Rapids, Sioux Falls Christian has a four stroke lead on Dell Rapids entering day two as they finished with a 371 score. Winner Area is 11th in the standings with a 421. Payson Birkeland of Belle Fourche is atop the leaderboard after shooting a 75 on Monday. She is three strokes ahead of Alex Kandolin of St. Thomas More. Winner Area’s Ronae Klein sits in 12th as she carded an 89 yesterday.

Golf results from the weekend
Plenty of golf took place at our area courses over the weekend. Saturday, Coleman Caldwell won the Dakota Milestones Tournament in Chamberlain as he shot a 60. At the Burke Golf Course, the team of Zach O’Keefe, Lucas Beardt, Cameron and Justin Folkers won the Sutton Fundraising Tournament as the guys carded a 66. At the Medicine Creek Golf Course in Presho, the team of Neil, Pat, Jen and Jed McNaughton won the Nearshooter four person scramble on the first hole of a playoff over Lyle, Toby and Marsha Hullinger along with Jon England. At the Winner Country Club Sunday, the Crow Eagle’s won the Early Bird Golf Tournament as they shot a 64. Brady Foster and Graig Kinzie won the Championship Flight at the Rich Welke Memorial Tournament in Ainsworth Sunday as they posted a 3 under par 33 in the best ball round, a 1 over par 37 in the alternate shot and a 6 over par 78 in the aggregate round for a total score of 148.

In amateur baseball last night at Leahy Bowl, Winner/Colome was able to defeat Platte, 14-4. Austin Calhoon hit a homerun for the Pheasants while Derek Graesser and Tarell Bauld had three hits apiece. Connor Hopkins went seven innings on the mound to earn the victory as he struck out eleven. Richard Sternberg had four hits for the Killer Tomatoes. The South Central Storm shutout Miller, 3-0. Paul Taggart pitched a complete game and struck out ten. Tom Groove had two hits in the Storm’s victory. In Junior Teener Baseball last night, Winner was able to defeat Colome, 15-3 and 15 to 8.
