Twins open the season in Baltimore

The Minnesota Twins will look to build off the success they had last season when they open the 2018 campaign in Camden Yards again Baltimore this afternoon against the Orioles. Two seasons ago, Paul Molitor’s team had a league worst 59 wins before they appeared in the playoffs last season against New York. Newcomer Jake Odorizzi will take the ball on the mound for the Twins this afternoon against Baltimore righty Dylan Bundy. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05. Go Twins!

Hammerbeck and Valandra make All-State Basketball teams

The South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association has released the Girls Class ‘A’ All-State Basketball Team. Morgan Koepsell of McCook/Central Montrose was named the player of the year. Locally, Todd County’s Caelyn Valandra made second team all-state as she averaged over 19 points a game in her freshman season. Winner Sophomore Morgan Hammerbeck made third team all-state as she averaged over 16 points a game for the Lady Warriors.

Clearfield softball signups to happen tonight

If you are planning on playing softball for Clearfield this summer, they will have signups take place tonight from 6-7pm at Wings N’ More inside the Winner American legion. Great Plains All Star Games coming to White River

The 12th annual Great Plains Senior All Star Basketball Games will take place on Tuesday, April 3rd at the Barnhart Gymnasium in White River! Doors will open at 5pm and the girls game will kick things off at 6pm. Halftime of the girls contest will be the girls three point shootout. A dunk contest will be done after the girls game wraps up followed by the boys all star game. Halftime of the boys game will be the boys three point shootout. Sportsmax to air on Saturday's

Beginning this Saturday, Sportsmax will air in place of Coaches Corner beginning at 9am on Country 1260. Sportsmax will run from 9-10am each and every Saturday until we get you ready for the fall sports season. If you won’t be able to catch it on Saturday, we will re-air the program in its entirety from 1-2pm each and every Sunday on Country 1260.

Lady Coyotes hold off Michigan State

In Vermillion last night in Women’s WNIT Sweet 16 action, USD got a huge three from Chloe Lamb late as USD took down Michigan State, 85-83 in overtime. USD was down 83-81 with 22 seconds remaining when Lamb was able to hit the go ahead three. The Lady Coyotes were led in scoring by Ciara Duffy’s 25 points. Next up for USD is TCU on Sunday in the quarterfinal round. Tipoff time in Vermillion is 6pm.

 

Wolves win in double overtime!

In the Men’s NCAA Division II Final Four last night in Sioux Falls, the fans got their money’s worth as Northern State was able to hold off Queens, North Carolina in double overtime, 105-99. The Wolves were down five in the first overtime before they were able to force an extra frame. Ian Smith led Northern in scoring with 22 points. The Wolves will play in the program’s first ever division II championship game on Saturday against Ferris State at 2pm.
