Chamber luncheon to happen in Chamberlain on Thursday

Coming up on Thursday, the Chamberlain Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual meeting and luncheon at the AmericInn in Chamberlain from Noon to 1pm.There will be a year in review and also awards given out for Volunteer of the Year and Business of the Year. Those that would like to join the Chamber of Commerce are also encouraged to attend this event. The cost is ten dollars to attend.

Aviation Day to happen Wednesday

The Pierre Elk’s Lodge Number 1953 2 will host the Fourth Aviation Day at the South Dakota Discovery Center in Pierre this Wednesday! The event will run from 1-4pm. The event is being sponsored by the South Dakota Discovery Center, Pierre Elk’s Lodge and Mustang Aviation in Pierre. Everyone is welcome to the free event.

A couple of reminders for today

A blood drive will take place in White River this afternoon from 1:45-5:30pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Tonight, the Burke Music Boosters will meet tonight at 6:30 at the Burke Civic Center. They will be discussing final plans for their music trip and the Middle School Dinner and Show. Be sure you to plan to attend tonight’s meeting!

Meetings coming up in Gregory County

The Burke Music Boosters will hold a meeting next week. The meeting will happen on Monday, January 23rd beginning at 6:30 at the Burke Civic Center. The Gregory County Farm Bureau will hold their appreciation night next Tuesday the 24th at the Burke VFW, social hour will start at 5:30. The Gregory County Democrats will meet next Saturday, January 28th at 3pm at Stella’s on Main in Burke.

Niobrara Polar Bear Festival coming up!

The annual Niobrara Polar Bear Festival is coming up on Friday and Saturday, January 27th and 28th in Meadville, Nebraska! Friday night, there will be a steak fry and then karaoke at the Meadville General Store. On Saturday, there will be registration for the “dippers” and then the actual Polar Bear dip will get underway at 2pm.

Annual Chamber meeting/luncheon coming up in Chamberlain!

Coming up on Thursday, January 26th, the Chamberlain Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual meeting and luncheon at the AmericInn in Chamberlain from Noon to 1pm. They ask that you RSVP by January 20th by calling 605-234-4416. There will be a year in review and also awards given out for Volunteer of the Year and Business of the Year. Those that would like to join the Chamber of Commerce are also encouraged to attend this event. The cost is ten dollars to attend.

A few reminders for this week

We wanted to remind you about a few things that will be happening later this week. Saturday, the Platte Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual banquet at the Platte Community Center. Social hour is at 6 and the meal will be served at 7pm. On Sunday, the Gregory Knights of Columbus will have a brunch from 9:30am-12:30pm at Mary Vale Hall in Gregory. Later on Sunday, the Burke Walks group will host a ‘Walk this Way’ event beginning at 4:45 at the Burke Civic Center.

Take part in the Caring Coats Project in Chamberlain!

A Caring Coats Project is taking place in Chamberlain-Oacoma! The community is collecting gently used and new coats of all sizes, vests, gloves, scarves, mittens, hats and blankets right now. You can drop off those items at Hair Expressions. If you have a coat to give then please leave a coat. If you need a coat, then you are encouraged to take a coat. Checkout the entertainment at the Playhouse this week!

We encourage you to stop on by the Winner Community Playhouse later this week as Winner Middle School and High School will hold plays Thursday through Saturday! Doors will open at 7 and the curtain time is 7:30pm. There will be three short acts each of the three nights. If you would like to make reservations you can call Winner High School at 605-842-8125.
