Begindergarten/Kindergarten screening

The Winner School District will be conducting it’s Begindergarten/Kindergarten Screening on Friday, April 26th.  South Dakota Law requires children be 5 years of age by September 1st of 2019 to be enrolled in a public school.  Parents/Guardians need to call the Winner Elementary School office to schedule a time for screening.  Please bring a copy of a Court issued birth certificate.  You may call the office at 842-8170 if you have any questions or to schedule your screening time.

School Board elections took place in the Winner School District and Colome Consolidated School District.

In the Winner School District elections Julie Manke received 290 votes, Ron High Rock Jr. received 54 votes, Scott Meiners received 256 votes, Haley Barfuss received 234 votes, and Nelle Schlomer received 225 votes. There were 3 seats open and those will be filled by Julie Manke, Scott Meiners and Haley Barfuss.

In the Colome Consolidated School Board election Holly Pechota received 59 votes, Casey Jo Shippy received 31 votes, Joel Koskan received 117 votes, Brett Galbraith received 125 votes, Ryan DeSmet received 97 votes and Cole Nicholas received 87 votes. There were 2 seats open and those will be filled by Joel Koskan and Brett Galbraith.

School Board Elections

School Board Elections will take place in the Winner School District and also the Colome Consolidated School District this Tuesday, April 9th.  The Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm.  In Winner, the polling place will be at the City Council Chambers in the City Building and for Colome Consolidated Schools, in Colome, you may vote at Skatetowne, In Witten at the Town Hall and in Wood at the Community Hall.

There are 5 candidates on the ballot for the Winner School District.  Voters may choose 3.  Candidates are Julie Manke, Ron High Rock Jr., Scott Meiners, Haley Barfuss and Nelle Schlomer.

There are 6 candidates on the ballot for Colome Consolidated School District.  Voters may choose 2.  Candidates are Holly Pechota, Casey Jo Shippy, Joel Koskan, Brett Galbraith, Ryan DeSmet and Cole Nicholas.

Hidden Timber Dam break 3/23/19

Tripp County Emergency Manager, Jon Burdette, is reporting that the National Weather service has issued a Flood Warning for the Keya Paha river through Sunday night. The Hidden Timber Dam in Todd County broke this morning. Part of the dam has washed away. This dam leads into the Keya Paha river. This will add to the current flooding. Residents along the Keya Paha river are asked to evacuate and get to higher ground.  National Weather Service is determining 3-4 hours before it will reach the Keya Paha in Tripp County.  So, approximately around noon central time you should notice some rising in the water. Dan Clark Auction & Realty hosting an online charity auction

Dan Clark Auction & Realty in Winner is hosting an online charity auction for the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Disaster Relief Fund. The auction is ongoing now through Friday, April 5th at 5pm. All funds go to Nebraska ranchers affected by the record flooding. Donations will be accepted throughout the auction. Donations will be 501 non-profit tax deductible and receipts will be provided from the Nebraska Cattlemen’s relief fund.
