The 2024 South Dakota State Fair will get underway tomorrow at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron! The event will run from August 28th through September 2nd. The Goo Goo Dolls will perform on Friday, August 30th at 8pm. Riley Green will take the stage on Saturday, August 31st at 8pm. Trace Adkins will entertain the crowd on Sunday, September 1st at 8pm.

Bev Keegan, Gregory 1.08 and ping pong size hail and wind;

Scott Kirsch, north of Platte 1″ rain and lots of wind damage.

Winner Regional Health will hold their annual Run/Walk for cancer next Monday, September 2nd. Pre-registration cost is $15, and it will be $20 the day of the race. The race will start from the hospital south parking lot. For further information, call 842- 7304.

The 18th annual Iona Cowboy Poker Run will happen on September 21st. Signup will start at 11am. All forms of transportation are welcome. A free will donation meal will start at 5:30pm.

This morning, there was an incident at the Gregory County Courthouse in Burke.  According to Gregory County Sheriff Tim Drey, this is now a crime scene at the Gregory County Courthouse.  There is a suspect in custody right now, and there is no threat to the public.  The Sheriff’s office is waiting for investigators to arrive, and D.C.I will be taking over the investigation.

The Ray Bokker memorial poker run will take place in Central South Dakota tomorrow. Registration will take place at the Pheasant Bar in Winner beginning at 11am. Numerous stops all across the area will be made during the poker run. All forms of transportation are welcome to take part.

The Winner Livestock Auction will hold their annual special stocker, feeder and replacement heifer barbecue sale this Friday, August 23rd. Feeders will sell at 8:30am, and barbecue starts at 11:30am. Gregory County FFA will hold a tailgate feed on Friday, August 23rd from 5:30-7pm at the Burke City Park.  FFA members will be serving up a roast beef sandwich meal for a free will donation.
