Fishing Tournament coming up in Platte

The 10th annual Terry Severson Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held on June 1st at Platte Creek. The fishing boundaries are from the Fort Randall Dam to the Fort Thompson Dam. Fishing will take place from 7am to 2pm. The registration cost is $250. If you have questions, call Leroy at 682-8052.

Circus coming to Chamberlain next week

The Big Bend Shrine Circus will be returning to Chamberlain later this month! The circus will be at the Chamberlain Armory on Monday, April 22nd, and Tuesday, April 23rd. There will be two shows each evening at 4:30 and 7:15. Tickets will be available at the door. 6th grade kids and younger will get in to the circus for free!

Old West Days coming up in Valentine

Old West Days and the Nebraska Cowboy Poetry Gathering will take place in Valentine April 25th through the 28th. Some of the many entertainers for this year’s event includes the following names: Harley Thorpe, Shiloh Hewitt, B.J. Jamison, Bonnie Krogman, Randy Huston, and Jake Riley.

Ainsworth to hold ranch labor workshop this month

There will be  a ranch labor workshop that will be held on Tuesday, April 23rd at the Ainsworth Elks Lodge. It will cover several topics, including HR, managing employees, hiring the right fit, internships, interviewing and more. The key speaker for the event will be Burke Teichert. Central South Dakota Election Results from Tuesday

Election Day took place on Tuesday in Central South Dakota.

The City of Winner had elections take place for both Mayor and City Council. For Mayor, Brad Schramm defeated Jody Brozik. Schramm received 280 votes, while Brozik received 218 votes. Schramm will serve a two year term as Mayor. In Ward 3, Austin Klundt defeated Matt Soles. Klundt received 98 votes while Soles received 44 votes. In Ward 2, Felicia Hughes defeated Joe Hockett. Hughes received 105 votes while Hockett received 94 votes. Both Hughes and Klundt will serve two year terms.

The Colome Consolidated School Board had an election to decide whether or not to keep the consolidation with Witten and Wood. There were 188 votes in favor of discontinuing the consolidation with Witten and Wood, and there were 178 votes against It. Colome will no longer consolidate with Witten and Wood. There was also an election for the Colome School Board. Matthew Vandenbark received 207 votes, Pam Haukaas received 191 votes, Kevin Kingsley received 184 votes while Brian Jorgensen received 136 votes. Vandenbark, Haukaas and Kingsley will each serve three year terms on the School Board.

There were 2 spots open on the Oacoma Town board. The individuals who were elected to the board of trustees were Angela Zeman and Gary Dominiack. Zeman received 62 votes, while Dominiack received 51 votes. They will each serve three year terms. Holly Reis received 32 votes in the race, while Kyle Fuchs received 21 votes and Kimberly Thomas received 20 votes.

For the City of Gregory in Ward 3, Ashley Lozano defeated David Peabody. Lozano received 14 votes, while Peabody received 9 votes. Lozano will serve in Ward 3 on a two year term.

Election Results

Election Day took place today in Central South Dakota.
