The 77th annual Sandhills Cattle Association convention will take place at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine on Wednesday, June 8th! You have the chance to enjoy the all day trade show along with the annual membership meeting, educational speakers, the pen of 3 show, kidz zone and a live auction. A couple of reminders for next week
Don’t forget that Colome Pre-School registration will be held next Tuesday, May 24th from 6-7:30pm in the Pre-School Room. Parents are asked to bring a birth certificate and immunization records. Also on May 24th next week, the Valentine Relay for Life Planning Committee will hold a meeting at 6:30pm at the Danielski Office in the heart city.
A few reminders for the week
Don’t forget to attend the slave and pie auction that will be put on by the Winner Baseball Association tomorrow! Hot dogs, beans and chips will be served for a free will offering at 5:30 followed by the auction at 6:30. Also on Thursday, a horse safety course will be offered at the Pukwana Ag Building at 6:30pm. Don’t forget that Gregory Pre-School students need to be registered for the upcoming school year by the end of Friday at the Gregory Elementary School.
Two day blood drive coming up next week
There will be a two day blood drive in Winner next week at the Winner American Legion. On May 25th, the blood drive will get underway at 10:30am and run until 4:30pm. On May 26th, the blood drive will run from 7am-noon. The blood drive next week is being sponsored by the Southern Belle Cattlewomen. Indian Taco fundraiser set for this Friday
Don’t forget that the Winner Assembly of God Church will be having an Indian Taco fundraiser this Friday, May 20th from 11:30am-2:00pm at the Church Fellowship Hall. All of the proceeds for this fundraiser will go toward their youth summer camp. You can pre-order tacos by calling Teresa at 605-842-1191 or by calling 605-840-1063.
Tractor Safety Training coming up in Valentine
We want to remind you that Tractor Safety Training will take place at the Cherry County Extension Fairgrounds in Valentine, Nebraska on June 2nd and the 3rd. The training classes are open to 14 and 15 year olds. Registration is required in advanced for the classes. If you would like additional details or just would like to register you can call the Nebraska Extension Office in Valentine at 402-376-1850.
Reminders for today
Keep in mind that the Gregory Caregiver’s Support Group will be meeting this afternoon at 1pm at the Gregory Hospital. Also, the Kimball School District is holding a carnival and supper later today. Games will start at 3:15, and food will be served from 5-7pm tonight at the Kimball School. The Burke Legion will meet tonight at 8pm at the Burke VFW too.
Help out Memorial Day weekend in Winner!
The Avenue of Flags needs your help on Memorial Day weekend to display the flags at the Winner Cemetery. On Sunday, May 29th, please come at 4pm to place the flag poles by the holes, and then on Monday, May 30th starting at 6am the flags will be placed in the holes followed by rolls, coffee and juice at the Legion for the workers. At 4pm, more help will be needed to remove, fold and store the flags and the poles. Please meet at the west entrance to the cemetery.
Area seniors ready to graduate this weekend
We have five area schools that will be holding graduation ceremonies tomorrow! Seniors at Kimball, Todd County, Colome, Gregory and Winner will graduate on Saturday. On Sunday, four area schools will hold ceremonies for their senior classes. South Central, Chamberlain, Jones County and Ainsworth seniors will graduate on Sunday. We wish all of our area seniors best of luck in their future endeavors!
Gregory County reminders for next week
We want to remind you about a couple of things that will take place in Gregory County over the next week. The Burke Legion will be meeting on Monday, May 16th at 8pm at the Burke VFW. Also Gregory Pre-School students need to be registered for the 2016-2017 school year by Friday, May 20th. Parents can get their kids registered at the Gregory Elementary School.
