Sanford Pentagon basketball coming to the area

Sanford Pentagon Basketball will be holding a ‘Hoops for Coop’ fundraiser on October 15th in Presho. This is a fundraiser for Cooper Garnos, who was diagnosed with cancer. They will be holding a basketball camp in Presho on the 15th. Boys and girls in grades 7-12 will go from 9:30 to 11am, and boys and girls in grades 2-6 will go from 11am to 12:30pm. The cost is $25 with 100 percent of the money going to the fund.

Tea Area and Parkston's Lee victorious at State Golf in Rapid City

The Tea Area Boys Golf team won the Class ‘A’ title at the State Golf Tournament in Rapid City yesterday. Tea finished with a 670 team score, four strokes ahead of Chamberlain, who finished fourth overall with a 674. Adam Hutmacher was Chamberlain’s top golfer as he shot a 161 and ended up tying for sixth. Parkston’s Jacob Lee finished atop the leaderboard as he shot a 153. Congratulations to Coach Chris Caldwell and Chamberlain on a tremendous season!

SESD Cross Country action from yesterday

The SESD Cross Country Meet was held in Winner on Monday. Chamberlain’s Ella Byers won the girls race while Kray Person of Burke/South Central won the boys race. The Winner Area Girls won the team title while Ethan/Parkston won the boys team title. Aaron Voight of Gregory finished second on the boys side. On the girls side, Winner’s Sidda Schuyler finished second, Jaclyn Laprath was third, Chloe Bartels was fourth and Samantha Schuyler finished fifth yesterday.

State Golf from Monday

The State ‘A’ Boys Golf Tournament got underway yesterday in Rapid City. Tea Area enters day two with a one stroke lead in the team standings over St. Thomas More while Chamberlain is tied for fifth and nine shots off the lead. Nick Lust of St. Thomas More sits atop the individual leaderboard entering play today as he shot a 74 on Monday, two shots ahead of Brock Murphy of Tea and Brett Mattson of Lead-Deadwood. Chamberlain’s top golfer on Monday was Adam Hutmacher, who shot an 82. Danny Sazue of Chamberlain shot an 83 while his teammate Cameron Caldwell carded an 84.  Todd County’s Bryce Hammer shot a 98 while Thomas Denoyer of St. Francis carded a 104. Play will resume at 10am central time this morning.
