Local state wrestling results from Saturday in Rapid City

The State ‘A’ and State ‘B’ Wrestling Tournaments wrapped up last night in Rapid City. Locally in Class B at 106 lbs, Sam Kruger of Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes took home second place as he was defeated by Trevor Klinnert of Tri-Valley. Winner Area’s Wyatt Turnquist placed eighth at 106. In Class A at 106, Chamberlain’s Collin Powell placed fourth.  At 113 lbs in Class B, Burke/Gregory’s Jackson Eklund placed third as he beat Michael Witte of Flandreau.  At 126 lbs, Winner Area’s Colby Curtis placed fifth as he defeated Dalton Bodewitz of Marion/Freeman.  At 152,  Jeremiah Beck of Burke/Gregory finished seventh as he picked up a win over Sam Caba of Bon Homme/Scotland. At 160 lbs, Burke/Gregory’s Noah Beck was runner up as he fell in the championship match to Rance Johnson of Philip Area.  At 170 lbs, Winner Area’s Kayleb Brozik placed fourth as he was defeated by Nick Casperson of Beresford. At 182, Lyman’s Cole Schelske finished eighth. At 195, Winner Area’s Jayden Schroeder came in eighth as he was defeated by Cooper Baloun of Redfield/Doland.   At 285, Burke/Gregory’s Colten Nelson earned a third place finish as he was victorious over Jordan VanHout of McCook Central/Montrose. In Class A at 220 lbs, Chamberlain’s Nick Clausen earned a third place finish as he beat Alex Capell of Sioux Falls Roosevelt.  At 285 lbs, Chamberlain’s Nash Hutmacher placed fifth as he defeated Ryan Parker of Dakota Valley. Preview for the Girls District 12B Championship Game

Tonight on 93.7FM you can tune in for coverage of the Girls District 12B Championship game as Burke/South Central will battle Avon. The Lady Pirates (16-5) went into the postseason as the number one seed in the district. They beat Colome on Tuesday night, 56-31.  Avon has won eight of their last nine games entering the district championship game tonight.  Two seeded Burke/South Central (12-9) beat Marty in Burke on Tuesday, 58-39.  Avon and Burke/South Central did meet once during the regular season back on January 26th in Bonesteel as Avon won 35-22. Pre-game coverage tonight will start at around 7:40.

Preview for the Platte/Geddes vs Gregory game, along with the Winner-Pine Ridge matchup

We will have coverage of two more basketball games tonight! On Magic 93,  Doski will be in Platte for the Gregory vs Platte-Geddes boys basketball game as both teams will end regular season play tonight. District 12B leading Gregory (13-6) has won their last five games. The Gorillas were impressive in a 62-45 win on Saturday at Rapid City Christian. The Black Panthers (6-13)  will look to bounce back after a loss last Saturday to Chamberlain.  Pre-game coverage on 93.7FM will start at around 7:40. On Country 1260, Scott Schramm will be in Pine Ridge for the Winner vs Pine Ridge Region 7A Semifinal matchup. The winner will advance to the Region 7A Championship game on Monday against the winner of tonight’s Little Wound vs Red Cloud contest.  The two seeded Lady Thorpes (16-5) beat Bennett County on Tuesday in their region opener, 103-38. The Lady Warriors, the three seed in Region 7A, beat St. Francis on Tuesday, 63-59.  Pre-game coverage on 1260AM will start at 7:10 central.
