Reminders for today

The Burke Community Club will meet today at noon at Stella’s in Burke. All members are encouraged to attend the meeting. There will be a blood drive happening in Butte, Nebraska today from 3-5:15pm at the Butte Community Center. To make an appointment call Phyllis at 402-832-5777. The Valentine VFW will be meeting tonight. They will gather at the Veterans Club beginning at 7pm.

Fundraiser coming up in Kimball this weekend

A fundraiser will be held at the Legion Hall in Kimball this Saturday, October 22nd! Happy hour will begin at 5:30 with a silent auction to take place, along with appetizers at 6:30. There will be a live auction and a gun raffle at 8pm too. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of playground equipment for the Kimball School District.

Blood drives in Gregory County on Wednesday

There will be a couple of blood drives that will take place in Gregory County this week. On Wednesday, October 19th there will be a blood drive in Bonesteel from 7:30am-Noon at the Community Center. To make an appointment call Dennis at 654-2202. There will also be a blood drive in Burke on Wednesday from 11am-5pm at the Burke Civic Center. To make an appointment call Elaine at 775-2641.

A few weekend reminders

We want to send a few reminders your way about some of the many things that will be happening in our area this weekend! The Naper Gun Show will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Naper Auditorium on Main Street. Admission is just three dollars. The annual Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet is set for Saturday at 5pm at the Peppermill Restaurant in Valentine! Over twenty guns will be given away. The Rocktober Fall Festival will happen on Saturday from Noon to 6pm in downtown Bassett! Stop by and enjoy carnival games for the whole family, a chili cook-off, pony rides, a haunted hotel and more!

Fun weekend ahead at Carlock Dance Hall!

It will be a “spooktacular” time at Carlock Dance Hall this weekend! Tonight from 5 to 7 they will have a haunted house you can checkout and also enjoy a pork feed! Saturday night, they will be holding their big Halloween Dance and costume party from 8pm to midnight! The Kenaston Family Band will be playing all of your favorite tunes on Saturday night too! Bring your dance partner and enjoy a fun weekend at Carlock!

Fun weekend ahead in Platte!

It will be a busy and fun weekend in Platte! The Northern Bull Riding Tour will take place on Friday night at the Yellow Rose Arena. Calcutta will start at 6:30 and the bull riding will follow. You have the chance to come see the top 25 bull riders compete! A dance will follow the bull riding tomorrow night at the Yellow Rose Arena. Saturday, the Platte Pheasants Forever Banquet will take place at the Platte Community Center. It will begin with a social hour at 6pm. This Saturday will be the first night that you can check out the Zombie Zone at Fergie’s Pub on Main Street! They will be open on the 15th, 22nd and the 29th starting at 7:30pm. It will be just ten dollars at the door. Scary fun for all ages!

Public Technical Education meeting coming up

There will be a technical education public meeting on Wednesday, October 19th from Noon-1pm at the Tripp County Courthouse Community Room in Winner. Technical education services and processes will be discussed by John Svatos, General Manager of the Regional Technical Education Center in Yankton. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting next week.

Baby signing time class to start this week

There will be a baby signing time class every Friday from 10-10:30am at the Winner Pre-School starting this Friday,  October 14th. This class will be open to children ages 0-5 and their parent or caregiver. This class will teach American sign language signs in a fun and interactive way! There will be no charge for those that want to take part in the classes.

Duffy family benefit to happen this Sunday

A benefit fundraiser will be held for the Duffy family in Winner this weekend! The event will be held on Sunday, October 16th beginning at 6pm at the Winner American Legion! There will be a baked potato supper and a live auction on Sunday night, with proceeds going to help the Duffy’s with costs from their house fire. Make plans to bring the whole family!
