The Valentine Rotary Club is sponsoring a blood drive that will take place this Thursday, July 7th from 11:30am-5:00pm at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church Parish Hall in the heart city of Valentine. If you would like to  make an appointment for the blood drive for tomorrow you can call Jeannie at 402-376-4715. The Pix Theatre in Winner will be showing “Project 22” on Wednesday, July 13th at 7pm next week. “Project 22” is a documentary movie that  focuses on brain injury and post traumatic stress that can lead to suicide. This movie can help show you how to make the right decisions to seek help. The movie is free to the public.

There will be a blood drive in White River on July 20th from 1-5pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. If you want to make an appointment you can call Donna at 259-3372. A blood drive will be held on July 27th from 1-6:15pm at the Winner Regional Chapel, and again on July 28th from 8am-noon at the same location. To make an appointment call Lyndsey at 842-7178.

The Chamberlain Farmers Market will once again be open to the public this weekend! The market is open through October 1st each and every Saturday from 8am-noon at the Lutheran Church parking lot in Chamberlain. If you would like more information you can call Teal at 605-682-9377. The farmers market is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.

The 7th annual Art Expo will be held at the South Dakota Hall of Fame in Chamberlain this Saturday, July 9th from 9am-5pm, and on Sunday, July 10th from 9am-3pm. Local artists will display wood carvings, quilts, paintings, photography, drawings and much more. There will be workshops both days too. It will be a free will donation to checkout the Expo next weekend.

Showing tonight through Monday at the Winner Drive-In will be the summer comedy smash “Central Intelligence” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart.  Showing tonight and tomorrow night only at the Hilltop Drive Inn on West Highway 18 in Gregory will be the “Angry Birds Movie”. Movies start at dusk in Winner and Gregory.

Just a reminder that the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 289 will be hosting a young eagles flight rally at the Gregory Municipal Airport this Saturday, July 2nd! There will be free airplane rides this weekend! Flights will begin at 8am on Saturday with registration closing at noon. The rides will be provided for those who are between the ages of 8 and 17.

Don’t forget there will be a free farm and ranch clinic in Valentine today. The clinic gives farmers and ranchers a chance to meet with agriculture law attorneys and ag financial counselors. There will be a mini-golf fundraiser today and tomorrow at the Gregory Public Library. The fundraiser will run from 4 to 8pm.  The South Central RC&D will have a meeting this afternoon at 1:30pm. The meeting will take place at the Mellette County Museum in White River.

The 155th Unit will be returning to South Dakota this weekend! There will be a deactivation ceremony on Saturday, July 2nd in Rapid City at 2pm. After the ceremony they will be able to return home with their families!
