The Avenue of Flags needs your help on Memorial Day weekend to display the flags at the Winner Cemetery. On Sunday, May 29th, please come at 4pm to place the flag poles by the holes, and then on Monday, May 30th starting at 6am the flags will be placed in the holes followed by rolls, coffee and juice at the Legion for the workers. At 4pm, more help will be needed to remove, fold and store the flags and the poles. Please meet at the west entrance to the cemetery.

Area seniors ready to graduate this weekend
We have five area schools that will be holding graduation ceremonies tomorrow! Seniors at Kimball, Todd County, Colome, Gregory and Winner will graduate on Saturday. On Sunday, four area schools will hold ceremonies for their senior classes. South Central, Chamberlain, Jones County and Ainsworth seniors will graduate on Sunday. We wish all of our area seniors best of luck in their future endeavors!
Gregory County reminders for next week
We want to remind you about a couple of things that will take place in Gregory County over the next week. The Burke Legion will be meeting on Monday, May 16th at 8pm at the Burke VFW. Also Gregory Pre-School students need to be registered for the 2016-2017 school year by Friday, May 20th. Parents can get their kids registered at the Gregory Elementary School.
Vacation Bible School coming up in Winner!
Vacation Bible School will be held at the Methodist Church in Winner from May 23rd through the 27th from 5-8pm! Supper will be provided each of the nights from 5-5:30. Bible School is open to kids in pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade. You can pre-register now at the Church Office.
A couple of reminders for next week
Keep in mind that the Gregory Caregiver’s Support Group will meet next week. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 16th at 1pm at the Gregory Hospital. Also next Monday the 16th, The Kimball School District will be holding a carnival and supper! Games will start at 3:15 and food will be served from 5-7pm at the Kimball School!
Public hearing to take place in Rosebud May 30th
A Rosebud Sioux Tribe Child Care Services public hearing will be held on Friday, May 30th from 10am-2pm at the RST Child Care Services Office in the brown building south of Allstop in Rosebud. Several topics will be discussed and lunch will be provided to the public at noon.
A couple of reminders for the next two Thursday's
Keep in mind that the Platte-Geddes Middle School will hold a concert this week. Their concert will take place on Thursday night starting at 7:30pm at the Platte Armory! The following Thursday, May 19th a horse safety course will be offered at the Pukwana Agriculture Building starting at 6:30pm.
Celebrate National Hospital Week in the area!
This is National Hospital Week, and Avera Gregory Hospital will be hosting a free breakfast tomorrow as well as a free lab blood draw from 7-9am. You can know your numbers before you head out to the field or into the office! Also, the Sanford Air Med Helicopter will be at the Community Memorial Hospital in Burke for the annual hospital week festivities on Friday at 11am. The public is invited to come visit with the flight team and take a look inside the helicopter!
Program to take place in Burke tomorrow night
The Gregory County Historical Society in conjunction with the South Dakota Humanities Council will present a program tomorrow night at 7pm at the Burke Civic Center Community Room. Historian Arley Fadness will present a power point on Webster’s Bandit Buster. History buffs can follow the trail from Madelia, Minnesota to Webster, South Dakota!

We want to remind you that the Valentine School Board will meet tomorrow evening at 5pm at Valentine High School. Also on Tuesday, the Gregory Elementary School will hold graduation at 1pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium! Tomorrow night, the Gregory eighth grade graduation ceremonty will take place at 8pm, also at the Gregory Auditorium.
