Girls State Softball got underway Friday in Sioux Falls. In the 12U C Division, Havoc defeated Platte/Geddes, 21-10. The Burke Royals beat Havoc in the second round, 18-4. In round three, the Royals took down Greyhound Hall/Smart, 8-0. The Winner Lightning won their first round game, 10-8 over the Madison Thunder. Winner then went on to beat the Rapid City Punishers in round two, 15-12. In round three, the Dakota Valley Panthers defeated Winner, 12-0.  In the girls 14U state softball tournament Friday, Gregory won their opening round game over Vermillion, 8-7. In the second round, Gregory lost to Mitchell Adrenaline, 9-8.  In the 16U State Tournament yesterday, Elk Point-Jefferson beat the Clearfield Sandburs, 12-0. In the 18U Tournament Friday, Pierre Fastpitch beat Platte in the opening round, 6-4. The Burke Royals won in the first round over Power, 10-4. The Royals then went on to the second round and beat Parkston, 8-6. In the majors state baseball tournaments yesterday, Gregory fell to Salem, 8-6. Platte/Geddes beat Salem, 14 to 8. The Winner 10 and under Majors took down Lennox in the first round, 11-1. Dell Rapids beat Winner in the second round, 18-1. The Winner 12 and under majors had quite the day as they beat Baltic in round one, 9-5 behind two home runs from Aiden Barfuss. Winner then went on to defeat Dell Rapids, 19-7. Barfuss hit two more home runs for Winner! In the Region 7B Legion Tournament in Gregory Friday, Spearfish beat Martin in five innings for the championship, 13-2. In the Region 4B Legion Tournament in Platte last night, Corsica beat Irene in eight innings, 14 to 9. In game two, Parkston edged Tabor, 4-3. In Junior Legion Baseball, the Mid Summer Classic got underway in Sioux Falls Friday, Winner fell to Pierre in game one, 8-7. Winner lost another close one as they then fell to Sioux Falls MB Silver, 14 to 10.
