Boys Golf

At the O’Neill Invite, James Eby of O’Neill was the medalist shooting a 74. Tanner Two Strike and Caden Stankoski each shot an 83 for Valentine. North Central’s Keian Fischer shot an 80. Jaxon Rucker, Bear Rea and Robert Rudnick each shot 92’s for Ainsworth. O’Neill won the team title, Valentine was fifth, North Central seventh and Ainsworth was ninth.

 

Track and Field

At the Pierre Legion Relays, Lyman’s Brooke Montgomery finished runner up in the girls 100. Chloe Collins of Lyman was third in the girls 300 hurdles. Cole Keiffer of Lyman finished runner up in the boys 110 hurdles.

NFL Draft

With the 18th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft last night, the Vikings selected Florida Defensive Tackle, Caleb Banks. The Vikings tonight will have pick number 49 in the second round, before they make two selections in the third round at picks 82 and 97.

Several fires reported in South Dakota and Nebraska on Wednesday

There were several fires in South Dakota and Nebraska last night, and into the overnight, including two large grass fires. One of those fires was northeast of Reliance, and the other east of Alexandria. The Reliance, Chamberlain, Lyman, Kennebec and Presho Fire Departments were paged out last night to the fire northeast of Reliance. There were also wildfires reported in Bon Homme County. Last evening, there were also severe thunderstorms for Stanley and Jones Counties. Multiple fires also broke out across Nebraska. A wildfire was reported burning across parts of Grant, Hooker and Cherry Counties, that saw an evacuation order for Whitman and the surrounding area. Multiple fire departments also responded, and were on the scene at two grassfires in northeast Nebraska. One fire was reported in Hubbard, that began shortly after 4pm. Authorities shut down Highway 11, south of Atkinson. A fire was located eight miles south of Atkinson on Wednesday evening. We will continue to update you on any further updates as they become available.

At the Big Dakota Meet in Mobridge, Todd County’s Talan Iyotte won the boys 100 in 12:12. Ciante Black Spotted Horse of Todd County won the boys 800 in 2:09:50. Austin Rose of Chamberlain won the boys 200 in 23:73. Isaac Shepherd of Chamberlain won the boys 400 in 52:84. Xavier Donovan of Chamberlain won the boys 110 hurdles in 16:70. Bryson Edwards of Todd County won the boys 300 hurdles in 43:50. Todd County won the boys 400 relay Tristen Johnson of Chamberlain won the boys long jump with a leap of 19-11. Winner’s Jaxon Day won the boys discus with a throw of 180-03. Grace Phillips of Chamberlain won the girls mile in 5:22:80, and she also won the 2 mile in 12:08:45. Silvana Houska of Chamberlain won the girls 800 in 2:30:78. Maddy Danford of Winner won the girls 100 hurdles in 18:17. Winner won the girls 4 x 1 relay in 53:74. Chamberlain won the girls 4 x 8 relay in 10:38:09. Piper Powell of Chamberlain won the girls shot put with a throw of 31-05. Powell also won the discus with a throw of 118-01. Kylah Biggins of Chamberlain won the girls triple jump with a meet best, 30 2.25. Chamebrlain won the boys and girls team titles. The Todd County boys were second as a team.

At the Jaguar Invite in Corsica, Gregory’s Abby Holmes won the girls 100 in 13:62. Burke’s Breckynn Pistulka won the girls 200 in 27:13. Gregory won the boys 4 x 1 relay in 47:84. Gregory won the boys 4 x 2 relay in 1:32:89. Gregory won the boys sprint medley relay in 3:47:67. Dani VanDerWerff of Gregory won the girls javelin with a throw of 118-08. Avery Sengelmann of Gregory won the boys high jump with a leap of 6-2. Burke’s Trystan Johnson won the girls long jump with a leap of 15-07. MVP won the boys team title, while Gregory was second. Corsica/Stickney won the girls team title, and Burke was second.

At the Charger Invite in Onida, Lyman’s Brooke Montgomery won the girls 100 in a time of 12:29. Montgomery also won the girls 200 in a time of 25:64. White River’s Hayden Hand won the boys 400 in a time of 53:54. BreAna Aske of Jones County won the girls 400 in 59:91. Dawsen Volmer of Lyman won the boys high jump with a jump of 6 feet. White River’s Page Wright won the girls high jump with a jump of 4’11. BreAna Aske of Jones County wo nthe girls long jump with a leap of 16’9.Ipswich won the boys and girls team titles. The Lyman boys were second, and the Lyman girls were third, while the Jones County girls were fourth.

At the Bon Homme Relays, Berklee Mills of Platte/Geddes won the girls 800 in 2:43:08. Walter Graesser of Platte/Geddes won the boys 800 in 2:08:15. Gabe Fite of Platte/Geddes won the boys 300 hurdlese in 42.65. Platte/Geddes won the boys 4 x 8 relay in 8:44:28. Claire Maydew of Platte/Geddes won the girls pole vault with a meet best, 8-06. EPJ won the girls team title, while Platte/Geddes was third. Ethan/Parkston won the boys team title, while Platte/Geddes was third.

At the Gothenburg Meet, Valentine won the girls 4 x 1 relay.
