A major storm ripped through Burke and parts of Gregory County last night, as major damage has been reported to the Burke Civic Center, high school and gym, along with businesses, buildings and dwellings. Many power lines are also down this morning. Rosebud Electric is reporting that the city of Burke will be without power until at least tomorrow, and consumers from the north of Gregory to the Iona Area will be without power until at least tomorrow as well. The National Weather Service issued several warnings for Gregory County last night, most of which were of the severe thunderstorm variety. Burke also sought the assistance of several Central South Dakota fire departments last night, including the Winner Fire Department, to help with the damage.
