Several Local Elections Taking Place Today

There are several local elections taking place in our listening area today.  Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The City of Burke is having an election for 1 councilman position (2-year term) in Ward I. The election will be held in the Municipal Building meeting room at 704 Main Street. Todd Halsne is the incumbent and Bryson Vasquez is the challenger.

The City of White River is having a mayoral election. Brandi L. Schmidt – Hodges is running against incumbent Paul D. Knispel.

White River Schools are having a school board election. Louann Krogman, Stan Knispel and Ashley Arrow are running for two open positions on the board. The polling locations for the White River City election and school board election are the Community Event Center and Norris Hall.

The City of Platte is having a mayoral election. Jerry Overweg is running against current mayor Ken Vanzee.

Platte-Geddes Schools are having a school board election. There are three candidates vying for two board seats (3-year terms): Steve Olsen, Jared Veurink, and Tina Schuman.

Elections polls for the Platte City election and Platte-Geddes school board election are at the Platte Community Building (314 Main St.) and Geddes American Legion Building (420 S. Main St).

A municipal election being held in Kennebec.  At the election, the following office will be filled: Two Trustee for a three-year term. And One Trustee for a one-year term. The candidates are Colleen Venter, Tom Hills, Brian Miller, and Todd Longville. The polling place for this municipality is the Kennebec Community Room.
