Election Results

Elections took place across South Dakota as well as the Nation.

In the Legislative Races in District 21 for State Senator Republican Mykala Voita defeats Democrat Dan Andersson 8,450 votes to 2,515 votes. In District 26 for State Senator Republican Tamara Grove defeats Shawn Bordeaux 4,380 votes to 3,221 votes. In District 21 Marty Overweg and Jim Halverson will take those 2 seats. In District 26A Democrat Eric E. Emery receives 1,531 votes, Republican Ron Frederick receives 904 votes and Independent William Craig Lafferty receives 559 votes. Eric Emery will be the District 26A representative. In District 26B Republican Rebecca Reimer defeats Independent David Reis 2,746 votes to 1,647 votes.

In Mellette County for States Attorney – Kirby Krogman defeats Michael Strain 357 votes to 343. In Gregory County for Board of Commissioners in District 2 Peggy Glover defeats Lance Matucha 275 votes to 237 and in District 4 Doug Janousek defeats P.J. Olson 304 votes to 163. In Mellette County for Commissioner in District 1 Wesley A. Schmidt receives 111 votes, William (Bill) Huber receives 53 votes and Casey G. Krogman receives 53 votes. Wesley A. Schmidt will win that seat. In Todd County for Commissioner in District 4 – Stephanie Murray Night Pipe defeats Clifford T. Lafferty with 208 votes to 116 votes.

It’s Election Day

Elections will take place today in our listening area. Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm. Along with the Presidential Election and many Statewide ballot questions, we also have many local elections taking place.

There will also be some local county races. In Mellette County running for States Attorney are Kirby Krogman and Michael Strain. In Gregory County on the ballot for Board of Commissioners will be in District 2 Lance Matucha and Peggy Glover and in District 4 Doug Janousek and P.J. Olson. In Mellette County running for Commissioner in District 1 are Wesley A. Schmidt, William (Bill) Huber and Casey G. Krogman. In Todd County running for Commissioner in District 4 are Stephanie Murray Night Pipe and Clifford T. Lafferty.
