Twins Talk returns tomorrow

Chris Doski will be back with another edition of ‘Twins Talk’ Tuesday afternoon on Country 1260 and Tuesday night on 93.7FM. Chris and a local Minnesota Twins fan will break down the Twins’ play in the month of April and plenty more tomorrow. The program will air at around 3:45 Tuesday on Country 1260AM and at around 7:10pm on 93.7FM. Platte Chamber Fishing Tournament coming up this weekend!

The 21st Annual Platte Area Chamber of Commerce Walleye Fishing Tournament will be held May 5th & 6th this weekend. The event will start off with the Rules Meeting and Calcutta on Friday, May 5th, at the Yellow Rose. Social hour with meal will be served from 6-7 p.m., followed by the rules meeting and Calcutta. All participants are required to attend the rules meeting. Fishing will take place Sat., May 6th, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Weigh-in will be located at the Yellow Rose Arena with a light meal served. All teams must be at the weigh-in by 4 p.m. Trophies will be awarded and the winners will be announced. Door prizes will be given away.

Keep the Food Pantry in Platte stocked up!

The Helping Hands Community Food Pantry in Platte reminds everyone from the community to help keep their pantry stocked with goods throughout the week. Items can be dropped off at the pantry on Wednesday’s from 1-5pm or in the blue food pantry totes at various churches throughout the Platte community. Your help with the food pantry is greatly appreciated!

Baseball and Golf from Friday

The Scotland/Tyndall Boys and Girls Golf Invite was held on Friday. Winning the boys team title was Platte/Geddes as they finished with a 235. Gregory came in fourth in the team standings. Alec Johnson of Bon Homme beat out Riley Hoffman of Platte/Geddes for first place as both guys shot a 76. Devon Munsen was the top golfer for Kimball/White Lake as he shot an 80 for fifth and JJ Beck of Gregory was sixth with an 80. On the girls side, Burke/South Central ended up winning the team title. Team scores were not sent in to KWYR for the girls invite. Tressa Bull of Burke/South Central finished first as shot a 78 and Taylee Indahl finished second with an 84. In Club Baseball last night, Winner/Colome picked up a victory at Leahy Bowl as they defeated Gregory County, 12-2. Drew Demers led the Royal offense as he had three runs batted in. Holden Thieman picked up the win on the mound. Elsewhere last night, Platte/Geddes beat Chamberlain in five innings, 16-0.

Bring the whole family to the horse races!

This weekend will be the opening weekend for the Horse Races at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre! Opening Day is Saturday, April 29th. There will be free admission this weekend and you will also get a free Coke, hot dog, brat or barbecue sandwich on Saturday. Post time will be 1pm sharp. If you have questions on the races for the season you can call Dave at 222-3008. There will also be races happening May 6th and the 7th too.
