Heart of Christmas celebration coming up Saturday in Valentine

The Valentine Chamber invites you to their Heart of Christmas celebration this Saturday, November 23rd with Santa and his reindeer set to appear from 1-4pm at Security First Bank! There’s also a Christmas Tree decorating contest from 4 to 6pm at the Vet’s Club, and Parade of Lights will begin at 6pm. On Sunday, their annual Holiday Preview will take place from 1 to 5pm.

Winner Warriors win a thriller over Sioux Valley Friday!

It was a game that fans won’t soon forget. The Class 11B Football State Championship game lived up to all the hype on Friday in Vermillion as the Winner Warriors were able to hold off the Sioux Valley Cossacks, 20-14. Karson Keiser was named the Joe Robbie MVP as he rushed for 86 yards on 20 carries and had a touchdown. Gus Bartels, named the game’s Most Outstanding Back, had 41 yards on eight carries. Quarterback Eli Vobr carried the ball 12 times for 29 yards and a had a huge touchdown run in the second half.  Kellen Brozik had a clutch 30 yard touchdown reception in the victory. Seth Heath led the Warriors with 9 tackles, while Shawn Hammerbeck, named the game’s most outstanding lineman, had six total tackles, while Gus Bartels and Karson Keiser each had five tackles. Winner as a team had 219 rushing yards. The Warriors dominated time of possession as they had a 30:24 to 17:26 advantage on Sioux Valley. Running Back, Donovan Rose, led the Cossacks with 151 yards on 25 carries and had two touchdowns. There will be a welcome home for the Warriors on Monday night, November 18th, at 7pm in the Winner Armory.
