The Class ‘C’ State Legion Baseball Tournament wrapped up last night in Ainsworth. Malcolm defeated Creighton, 11-5. The Class ‘B’ State Amateur Baseball Tournament got underway at Cadwell Park in Mitchell Wednesday night. Dimock/Emery defeated Harrisburg in game one, 7-2. The Dell Rapids Mudcats won a low scoring affair in game two over Menno, 2-0. Major League Baseball, Joe Mauer had four hits and four RBI, Brian Dozier hit a three-run homer and the Minnesota Twins continued their mastery over the Cleveland Indians with a 13-5 win on Wednesday night. Cleveland, the AL Central leader, fell to 4-8 against last-place Minnesota. The Twins have outscored the Indians 35-16 in winning the first three games of this series.

 

A big sale set for this weekend in Mission

Todd County sports apparel will be on sale this Saturday, August 6th! There will be basketball, football, and volleyball sweatpants and pullovers along with Falcon chairs. Prices range from $5 to $25. All of the proceeds will be donated to the Coaches Association. Also, Todd County physicals will be held on Saturday from 8am-4pm.

The Burke Farmers Market will re-open tomorrow on Main Street! The market will be open from 4-6pm each and every Thursday through early October. The Chamberlain Farmers Market will be back open this Saturday from 8am-noon in the parking lot of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chamberlain. The market is open through October 1st each and every Saturday. For more information you can call Teal at 605-682-9377. The market is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture.

Day four of the Class ‘C’ Legion State Baseball Tournament wrapped up last night in Ainsworth. Creighton defeated Albion in game one, 10-0. Game two was won by Malcolm, who beat West Point, 5-2. It now sets up undefeated Malcolm taking on the once beaten Creighton squad for the Class ‘C’ Championship at 4pm today. Creighton will have to win back-to-back games in order to win the championship.

 

Todd County Fair will get underway on Thursday!

The 2016 Todd County Fair will get underway Thursday in Mission and run through Saturday! Their theme is “Something Old, Something New- Forever Red, White and Blue”. Thursday, the talent show will take place at the fairgrounds. There will also be a pie contest and pre-registration for the exhibits. Big events coming up in Gregory County!

The Gregory/Dallas Chamber has their final act in the arts and entertainment series on Thursday, August 18th, “Re-Percussion” at the Dallas American Legion starting at 6:30pm. Also, a reminder to be sure to save the date for the Beef Steak Banquet that is set for Saturday, August 20th at the Gregory Auditorium! On September 20th, “Women in Ag Day” will take place at the Burke Civic Center. If you have questions on how to register in advance you can call Nikki at 775-8290.

School enrollment ongoing in Mission

Just a reminder that the enrollment for all new students and returning Todd County High School students is being held weekdays from 8am-3pm at the High School Guidance Office in Mission. Enrollment needs to be completed before school starts, which is August the  22nd.

Day three of the Class ‘C’ Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament was held in Ainsworth on Monday. In game one, West Point defeated Yutan, 17-3 in seven innings. Game two went to Creighton as they beat Alma, 9-3. Malcolm won the nightcap as they took down Albion, 8-5. Today at 4pm, Albion will take on Creighton while Malcolm will play West Point at around 7pm.
