Attend the Elks Rodeo this weekend!

The 47th annual Winner Elks Rodeo will get underway tonight at the Tripp County Fairgrounds! Rodeo festivities will begin at 7:30pm Friday through Sunday this weekend. Mutton Bustin’ will be limited to ten each night ages 3-7. Team penning will happen during tonight’s performance. Bullfighter Matt Riha will keep the crowd entertained all weekend long. The announcer Alan Odden will be the voice of the rodeo! BPO will be offering a lunch stand for the three days and there will also be a beer stand too. A candy scramble will be held each night for the kids (ages nine and under). Tickets at the gate will be twelve dollars and kids ages ten and under get in for free!

Weekend reminders in Gregory County

Today is the final day for you to enjoy free, nutritious meals at the Gregory Lunch Room. They will be serving from 11:30am-1pm today. Kids can eat for free while adults ages 19 and up can eat for five dollars. Summer Fest will take place tomorrow from 6-11pm at the Burke Civic Center parking lot! There will be a cook-off, entertainment and a live auction. It is a hospital project fundraiser. Also, registration for the garden walk to be held in Gregory on Sunday, July 24th will start at 4:45 in Burke at the Civic Center. The walk will begin at 5.

Junior Teener State Tournaments will get underway tomorrow!

The South Dakota Class ‘A’ and Class ‘B’ Junior Teener State Baseball Tournaments will get underway tomorrow! In Dell Rapids, the Class ‘A’ Tournament will be held through Sunday. Tomorrow at noon, West Central will play Custer. In game two, Madison will take on Dakota Valley. At 5:30, Tea will play Wagner followed by Warner-Ipswich-Northville battling Dell Rapids. In Platte, the Class ‘B’ Tournament will get underway at noon tomorrow. Gregory will play Selby followed by Baltic against Webster. At around 5:30, Garretson will play Onida followed by Platte/Geddes against Clear Lake.

Reminders for today

Don’t forget the Spirit Gems will be having a car wash in Winner today from 11am-7pm at the Frosty Boy! Stop by and enjoy an ice cream treat! The Spirit Gems will also be serving burgers for lunch from 11-1. All of the proceeds today will go toward their upcoming performance at Disney World in December.  The Winner High School Class of 1971 will be meeting tonight at 7pm at Wings N’ More. Also, the Goodwill Trailer will be in the parking lot of the Platte Food Center starting today! They will accept small furniture, clothing, toys, books, electronics and much more.

Vacation Bible School in Winner next week!

Don’t forget that the Assembly of God Church in Winner will be holding Vacation Bible School next week! Vacation Bible School will run July 24th through July 28th from 6:30pm-9:00pm each night. Day 1 of the State ‘A’ Legion Baseball Tournament is in the books. Yesterday, Sioux Falls East defeated Aberdeen, 6-0. Rapid City Post 22 beat Brandon Valley, 9-2. Rapid City Post 320 grabbed a win over Brookings, 6-2 and Watertown beat Pierre, 8-1 last night. In teener baseball last night, Wagner beat Gregory, 14-4.

Winner FFA to host a run on July 30th!

The Winner FFA will be hosting a run for a reason on July 30th! There will be a full and a half marathon, along with a 10k and 5k run. There will be five age divisions. To all students who would like to participate, if you can find a few local businesses to sponsor you $5 for every mile you run or walk, all of the proceeds will go to the Connot Family. Benefit supper and auction set for Monday

On Monday, July 25th, Winner Warriors Live, Top 10 Sports and the Pentagon will sponsor a benefit supper and auction in memory of Bob Connot from 5:30-7pm at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner. It will be a free will offering and all of the proceeds will go to the Connot family. They are currently looking for items to be donated for the auction and silent auction.
