We want to congratulate the Winner/Colome Royals on winning the Region 4B Legion Baseball Tournament this weekend in Wagner! Winner/Colome was victorious over Wagner on Saturday, 12-8. Leading the way for the Royal offense was Drew DeMers who had four hits. Kelly O’Bryan picked up the win on the mound as he struck out four.  Best of luck to Winner/Colome at the State ‘B’ Tournament in Webster July 22nd through the 26th! We will have coverage of the Royals on KWYR!

Softball State Tournaments in Sioux Falls, Day 2

The Region 6A Junior Teener Baseball Tournament was held at Leahy Bowl on Friday. In game one, Winner defeated Chamberlain, 18-7. In game two, Wagner was able to hold off Winner, 10-7. In game three, Wagner was crowned region champions after they beat Chamberlain, 15-0. The Region 4B Legion Tournament continued in Wagner on Friday. Winner/Colome defeated Parkston in twelve innings, 6-4. In game two, Wagner was able to get past Platte/Geddes, 7-6. In game three, Wagner beat Parkston, 6-5. Today at 2pm for the region championship, Winner/Colome will take on Wagner at 2pm.

Day 1 of State Tournaments in Sioux Falls

The Region 4B Legion Baseball Tournament continued last night in Wagner. In game one, Winner/Colome was able to outscore Platte/Geddes by a final of 11-10. In game two, Wagner eliminated Gregory County in a 8-3 victory. In Amateur Baseball Thursday, Winner/Colome went on the road and beat Mount Vernon, 11-3. Ryan Richey hit a couple of home runs in the win for the Pheasants. Mitchell defeated Platte, 12-9. Kimball/White Lake was able to defeat Plankinton, 12-8. Four Corners defeated Gregory/South Central, 12-8.

Winner will host a youth outdoor day on August 20th at the Rosebud Arrow,Rod & Gun Club from 9am-noon. Gates will open at 8:30am for check-in. There will be archery, shotgun, air pistol and rifle, muzzle loader, .22 rifle casting, slingshots, bb gun, coyote, turkey and goose calling at the event. There will be a mock pheasant hunt too! Pre-registration is required to the Winner Chamber of Commerce office by August 15th for kids ages 5-16. Xtreme Sport Shooter Patrick Flanigan will be at the Gun Club on the 20th from 1-2pm! Applications can be picked up at the Winner Area Chamber of Commerce, Bankwest and at Farmers Union Insurance.

The Region 4 postseason legion baseball tournament got underway in Wagner last night. In game one, Winner/Colome defeated Wagner by a final score of 10-4. In game two, Parkston defeated Gregory, 14-6. In Junior Teener Baseball last night, Gregory was crowned region champs after they took down Parkston, 20-14! Congratulations to Coach Jeff Determan and Gregory on punching their ticket to state!
