Junior Teener and Teener baseball was held last night in Chamberlain. Chamberlain defeated Colome in the junior teener contest, 9-4. The Colome Teeners beat Chamberlain, 16-7. In Junior Teener baseball Monday, Mission outscored Winner in a high scoring game as they were victorious 13-12. In Legion Baseball last night, Ainsworth defeated O’Neill, 9-1. Hunter Martin picked up the win on the mound.

A couple of blood drives coming up
Don’t forget that a blood drive will be held in Geddes this Wednesday, July 13th from 2-6pm at the Geddes Legion Hall. The following Wednesday, July 20th, a blood drive will take place in White River from 1-5pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. If you would like to make an appointment for the drive in White River you can call Donna at 605-259-3372.
Project 22 to be shown in Winner on Wednesday
The Pix Theatre in Winner will be showing “Project 22” this Wednesday, July 13th at 7pm. “Project 22” is a documentary movie that focuses on brain injury and post traumatic stress that can lead to suicide. This movie can help show you how to make the right decisions to seek help. The movie is free to the public.
Rodeo Week in Murdo and Burke!
A couple of big rodeos will get underway later this week! The Burke Stampede Rodeo will take place July 15th through the 17th at the Burke Arena. Remember, the Stampede Idol Contest and free chuckwagon feed will happen on Thursday. The Murdo Ranch Rodeo and Rough Stock Challenge are set for this weekend at the Murdo Rodeo Arena! The Rough Stock Challenge will take place on the 15th starting at 6:30 with the calcutta. The 7th annual rodeo will be held on the 16th. A yearling gelding will be auctioned off at the ranch rodeo. The yearling is being donated to help defray medical costs for the Newsam family.

In Amateur Baseball last night, Winner/Colome went to Mitchell and took down the Mitchell Mad Dogs, 14-7. The winning pitcher for the Pheasants was Drew Weber. Austin Calhoon had three hits while Derek Graesser knocked in three runs. The Pheasants will now get ready for the big showdown with top ranked Alexandria this Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader at Leahy Bowl. Elsewehere, the Parkston Mudcats defeated the Platte Killer Tomatoes, 9-3. A ten run first inning propelled Plankinton past Gregory/South Central last night, 15-0. In the river city on Thursday, Miller beat Chamberlain, 4-1. The Winner Junior Teeners were victorious last night over Chamberlain, 11-7. The Winner Teeners picked up a 3-2 win over Chamberlain. Legion Baseball from Thursday, Gregory County edged Mission, 6-5.
A list of meetings in Valentine for next week
The Valentine City Planning Commission will meet on Monday, July 11th at 7pm at the Valentine City Library meeting room. The Cherry County Board of Commissioners will meet on Tuesday, July 12th at 10am at the regular location in Valentine. The Valentine School Board will meet on Tuesday, the 12th at 6pm at the High School. The Valentine City Council will meet next Thursday, July 14th at 7pm in the meeting room of the Valentine Public Library.
Reminders for the weekend
We wanted to send some reminders your way about a few of the many things that will be going on across our area this weekend. The North Star Poker Run will be held on Saturday beginning at the North Star and ending at the Pheasant Bar in Winner. They ask that you get signed up by noon on Saturday. The Tripp County Historical Society will be hosting a homemade pie and ice cream social this Sunday from 2pm to 4:30pm. Free will offering will be taken.
