A little league postseason majors baseball tournament wrapped up last night. In the seventh place game, Winner Gold was able to hold off Mission, 10-8. Winner Purple took home fifth place as they beat Clearfield, 8-6. Lyman was victorious over Colome in the third place game, 12-7. Burke won the majors tournament as they beat Gregory, 10-0.  In amateur baseball last night, Kimball/White Lake was able to outslug Armour, 14-13. The Chamberlain Mallards took down Gregory/South Central, 5-3 on Thursday.

Movies at our drive-in theatres this weekend

Showing tonight through Monday at the Winner Drive-In will be the summer comedy smash “Central Intelligence” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart.  Showing tonight and tomorrow night only at the Hilltop Drive Inn on West Highway 18 in Gregory will be the “Angry Birds Movie”. Movies start at dusk in Winner and Gregory.

Free airplane rides in Gregory tomorrow!

Just a reminder that the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 289 will be hosting a young eagles flight rally at the Gregory Municipal Airport this Saturday, July 2nd! There will be free airplane rides this weekend! Flights will begin at 8am on Saturday with registration closing at noon. The rides will be provided for those who are between the ages of 8 and 17.

Scores from Wednesday

Junior Teener and Teener Baseball took place last night. The Gregory Junior Teeners beat Chamberlain, 6-4. Gregory won the teener game 12-3. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth inning due to lightning. The Winner Junior Teeners picked up a win over Lyman County on Wednesday, 15-4.  The Winner Teeners were able to get a win at home over Ainsworth in five innings, 17-5.  The Ainsworth vs Winner/Colome Legion game was cancelled after the first inning due to weather.

A few reminders for today

Don’t forget there will be a free farm and ranch clinic in Valentine today. The clinic gives farmers and ranchers a chance to meet with agriculture law attorneys and ag financial counselors. There will be a mini-golf fundraiser today and tomorrow at the Gregory Public Library. The fundraiser will run from 4 to 8pm.  The South Central RC&D will have a meeting this afternoon at 1:30pm. The meeting will take place at the Mellette County Museum in White River.

155th Unit to return this weekend!

The 155th Unit will be returning to South Dakota this weekend! There will be a deactivation ceremony on Saturday, July 2nd in Rapid City at 2pm. After the ceremony they will be able to return home with their families! We would like to thank all the businesses of Platte on being so supportive and decorating the many windows and making the terrific welcome home signs.

Valentine to host a farm ranch clinic tomorrow

There will be a free farm and ranch clinic that will take place in Valentine, Nebraska on Thursday, June 30th. This clinic in the heart city tomorrow will give farmers and ranchers the opportunity to meet with agriculture law attorneys and ag financial counselors.
