Youth Outdoor Day set for this weekend in Winner!

Winner’s Youth Outdoor Fishing Day will take place at the Winner Youth Bass Pond on Saturday, June 11th. Registration will be held from 8-9am. Weigh-in and prizes will be handed out at 1pm, and a free lunch will follow that is sponsored by Bankwest. The kids fishing tournament is open to age groups 3-6, 7-10 and 11-15. Every kid that participates will receive a prize to take home. If you have any questions you can contact DB’s Bait and Tackle at 842-2199 or Eric Storms at 840-7624.

City of Winner reminder

The City of Winner would like to remind everyone that all extra Memorial Day flowers and decorations need to be removed from the cemetery. Regular cemetery rules will go into effect until next Memorial Day, which is only one item per grave space.  Anything over one item per grave space will be removed. The city would like to thank everyone for their cooperation!

Election results

Primary elections took place in our area yesterday. Here are the local results.

In Tripp County, for Tripp County Commissioner in District 2. Incumbent Dan Forgey received 99 votes and George Shippy received 72 votes. Dan Forgey will retain his seat as Commissioner.

In Gregory County, in District 2 Kelsea Kenzy Sutton received 90 votes and Lance Matucha received 70 votes. In District 4, Bob Hausmann received 69 votes and John Parsons received 42 votes. Kelsea will be the County Commissioner in District 2 and Bob will be the County Commissioner in District 4.

In Charles Mix County, for State‘s Attorney Steven R Cotton received 350 votes and Pamela Susan Hein received 198 votes. Steven will now run in the General election this fall.

The Chamberlain School District voted on School board members. Jim Anderson received 569 votes, Linnea Wright 487 votes, Leanne Larson received 466 votes, Lyndsie Steckelberg received 343 votes, and Marlo Natwick received 327 votes. The new school board members will be Jim Anderson, Leanne Larson, and Linnea Wright.

Election Day

We have Primary elections taking place in our area today. The polls are open from 7am to 7pm. Along with the Statewide Primary Elections we also have some local elections happening.

In Tripp County, the only local election taking place are for Tripp County Commissioner in District 2. Incumbent Dan Forgey is running against George Shippy.

In Gregory County, there are County Commissioner races in District 2 and District 4. Running in District 2 are incumbent Lance Matucha running against Keslea Kenzy Sutton and in District 4 Bob Hausmann and John Parsons are running for that seat.

In Charles Mix County, Republicans will have a choice for State’s Attorney between Pamela Susan Hein and Steven R Cotton.

The Chamberlain School District will elect 3 board members. Running for those seats are Jim Anderson, Marlo Natwick, Linnea Wright, Leanne Larson, and Lyndsie Steckelberg.
