Outdoor Fishing Day coming up June 11th in Winner

Winner’s Youth Outdoor Fishing Day will take place at the Winner Youth Bass Pond on Saturday, June 11th. Registration will be held from 8-9am. Weigh-in and prizes will be handed out at 1pm, and a free lunch will follow that is sponsored by Bankwest. The kids fishing tournament is open to age groups 3-6, 7-10 and 11-15. Every kid that participates will receive a prize to take home. If you have any questions you can contact DB’s Bait and Tackle at 842-2199 or Eric Storms at 840-7624.

Baseball scores from Wednesday

It was a busy night for baseball in south central South Dakota on Wednesday. At Leahy Bowl, the Winner/Colome Legion Baseball team won their season opening game against Mission by a final score of 10-2.  In junior teener baseball, Colome beat Ainsworth 12-2, and the Colome teeners beat Ainsworth, 11-7.  The Lyman Junior Teeners beat Chamberlain on Wednesday 6-5 while the Lyman Teeners were able to edge Chamberlain 9-6.

Design a Planter class scheduled for this evening

Klein’s True Value Greenhouse in Gregory will hold a design a planter class hosted by Mary Kay this evening starting at 5pm. You can call 605-835-9601 or stop by and signup today as space is limited. This will be the last class of the year at Klein’s True Value in Gregory. They would like to thank everone for their support, and to all of those who may have attended a class or two over the last few weeks.

Reminders for Saturday

We want to remind you that the annual Johnny Steffen Memorial Kids Fishing Derby will be held this Saturday, June 4th at Burke Lake! The fishing derby will take place from 1pm to 3pm. Also for this weekend, the Chamberlain Farmers Market will be open for the season this Saturday too! The farmers market will be located at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday’s through October 1st from 8am-noon.

Get out and do some golfing this week!

With the temperatures expected to be in the 70’s and 80’s for the remainder of this week, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do some golfing in south central South Dakota! Just a reminder that Community Memorial Hospital in Burke will be holding a four person scramble this Sunday, June 5th at the Burke Golf Course starting at 10am. All of the proceeds will go toward the Hospital Building Fund. To register call 775-9190 or 830-5232. Also this Sunday, a two man scramble will be held at the Winner Country Club! 11am shotgun start and there is a 90 dollar entry fee per team. Call the Clubhouse to get signed up by phoning 842-0686.

Health Fair set for this Friday in Winner

A free community health fair will take place this Friday, June 3rd from 7:30am-1:30pm at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center. A free community breakfast will be held for the community from 6:30-9:30am, free and reduced cost health screenings will be offered along with Sanford heart screenings and vascular screenings by appointment.

Blood Drive to happen tomorrow in Gregory

We want to remind you about a blood drive that will be taking place in south central South Dakota this week. A blood drive will be held on Thursday, June 2nd from 12:30pm-6:00pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium.
