Winner/Colome takes down STM in extras!!

What a crowd, what a game and what a comeback it was last night in the Region 4B Club Baseball Championship game that took place at Leahy Bowl! Trailing 2-0 as they headed into the bottom of the sixth inning, Winner/Colome knew that they needed to have base runners to give themselves a chance against St. Thomas More. The Royals did just that.  Winner/Colome was able to get guys on base via the walk and some timely hits to tie the game up at 2. The Royals got to within a run after a strikeout and throwing error into left field by the St. Thomas More catcher to cut the deficit to 2-1. After a pitching change, Kelly O’Bryan stepped to the  plate and delivered a clutch two out single to tie it up at 2-2. In the bottom of the eighth, the bottom of the Royals batting order delivered with some quality at bats to put runners on the corners. With one out in the inning and Cameron Biggins standing on third base, a passed ball allowed Biggins to scamper home for the game winning run! The Royals will now play in the state tournament on Memorial Day against Dell Rapids in the first semifinal game. First pitch will be at 10am at Sioux Falls Stadium. Pre-game coverage on 93.7FM will start at around 9:25.
