Norris School reminders

The Norris School will be hosting a kindergarten roundup on Thursday, April 28th from 9am-1pm at the school. To make an appointment call 462-6455.  Also, the Norris Elementary School will be hosting a spring concert on Tuesday, May 3rd beginning at 1:30 at the Norris Gym.

Busy weekend ahead for our area sports teams!

We encourage you to get out and enjoy some area spring sports action this weekend! On Saturday, the Chamberlain/Lyman Club Baseball team will head out west to play Lead/Deadwood at 2pm central. In Track and Field for Saturday, the Corn Palace Relays will take place in Mitchell featuring most of our South Dakota area teams. The Ainsworth Golf team will be in action on Saturday as they will play in the Plainview Invite. Sunday, The Winner/Colome Club Baseball team will host Douglas, Chamberlain/Lyman will play in Rapid City against St. Thomas More while Todd County will play in Martin against Bennett County and Lead/Deadwood.

Hunt Safe Course to be held this weekend

A hunt safe course will be held April 15th and 16th at the Game, Fish and Parks Regional Office in Chamberlain. The course on Friday will be from 6-9pm, and on Saturday from 8am-5pm. For more information or to register contact the Regional Office at 605-734-4530 or call 605-734-4577.

Annual Tornado Drill set for April 27th

The annual South Dakota Tornado Drill will take place on Wednesday, April 27th. Whistles will begin sounding at 10am. Also, Susan Sanders from the National Weather Service will be having a storm spotter training session on Monday, April 25th starting at 7pm at the Fire Hall in Colome.

Election Results from Tuesday

Yesterday was Election Day, and we have results from our local elections. In Winner in the mayor elections, it was Frank Finney receiving 339 votes  and Roger Farley received 292 votes. Frank Finney is the new mayor of Winner. For Councilman in Ward 1, it was Dave Baker receiving 82 votes, Clint Woods received 65 votes and Isaiah Curtis received 71 votes. Dave Baker will be the new councilman for Ward 1 in Winner. In the mayor election in Gregory, Maurie Schlaht received 214 votes and Scott Anshutz received 226 votes. Scott Anshutz is the new mayor of Gregory. In Presho,  they had elections in Ward 2 and 3. In Ward 2, Susan Thomas received 12 votes and Colby Brakke received 40 votes. Brakke will serve in Ward 2. In Ward 3, Angela Ehlers received 26 votes, Lance Comp received 24 votes and Robert Christensen received 3 votes. Ehlers will serve in Ward 3. In Kennebec for the town hall seat, Debra Halverson received 36 votes and Jared Schelske received 56 votes. Schelske has been elected to the three year term on the Kennebec Town Hall.

Area Schools ready to celebrate prom this weekend!

Five schools in our area will be celebrating prom this weekend! Students at Colome Schools and at Jones County Schools in Murdo will be celebrating prom this Friday, April 15th. On Saturday, students at Todd County Schools in Mission, students at Rock County Schools and high schoolers in Ainsworth will be having prom. We hope you make it a fun but safe weekend as you enjoy prom with your friends!
