The Burke Wellness Center will hold a “Litter Pickup Walk” this Sunday, April 10th starting at 5pm. The two mile walk will start at the Burke Civic Center with registration beginning at 4:45pm, and the walk will begin at 5. For more information you can call Ann at 842-1267 or Laurie at 775-2522.

Attend the Gregory County Gift Show this weekend!
Make plans to attend the annual Gregory County Gift Show that will take place tomorrow! The Gift Show will run from 9am to 3pm on Saturday at the Burke Civic Center. There are many new vendors this year with all kinds of items on display and on sale! There will be a great lunch stand that you have the chance to enjoy as well! There is sure to be something for everyone so check it out!

Platte/Geddes Club Baseball team victorious on Thursday
The Platte/Geddes Club Baseball team scored a 17-0 win over Chamberlain/Lyman last night. Dylan Mohnen was the winning pitcher. He struck out eight, did not allow a hit and hit one batter. Riley Hoffman had two hits in the victory to go along with three runs batted in. Seth Kirsch contributed two hits and two runs batted in while Colten Plooster had a couple of hits and three runs batted in.
Tractor Safety Training to happen in June in Cherry County
There will be tractor safety training that will take place at the Cherry County Extension Fairgrounds on June 2nd and the 3rd. The classes will be open to youth ages 14 and 15. Registration is required. To register call the Nebraska Extension Office in Valentine at 402-376-1850.
Kindergarten screenings set for April 22nd in Winner
Winner Elementary School will be holding kindergarten screenings on Friday, April 22nd. The screenings are for any child that will be school age for next school year and 5 by September 1, 2016. To schedule an appointment call the Elementary School Office at 842-8170.

Davis powers Orioles past the Twins
BALTIMORE (AP) – Chris Davis homered to back an effective pitching performance by Yovani Gallardo in his Orioles debut as Baltimore beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Wednesday night at Camden Yards. Davis hit a solo shot to deep center off Kyle Gibson in the third inning to put the Orioles ahead for good. Gallardo allowed one run and two hits in five innings.
