The Rosebud Electric Cooperative will again be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a student of a Rosebud Electric Cooperative member. Applications can be picked up at the High School Counselor’s Office or at the Rosebud Electric Office in Gregory. The deadline to apply is February 15th.

Doug Stoeger Band to perform this weekend in Valentine
The Valentine Arts Council will present the Doug Stoeger Band at the Valentine High School Auditorium this weekend! The entertainment will be provided on Sunday beginning at 6pm with a free will donation being taken at the door. Stop out and enjoy terrific folk and rock music on Sunday in the heart city!
Polar Bear Festival set for this weekend
The Niobrara River Polar Bear Festival is coming up January 25th and 26th in Meadville, Nebraska! Social hour will begin at 5pm on the 25th at the Meadville Store followed by karaoke that night. Saturday, registration will be held at noon and the polar bear dip starts at 2. Following the dip, there will be karaoke at the Meadville Store. They will also be serving pulled pork sandwiches both days.
Valentine gearing up for big fishing tournament this weekend
The annual Cork Thornton Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament will be held on Friday, January 25th and Saturday, 26th at the Merritt Dam Reservoir, 26 miles south of Valentine. Anniversary Open House to happen next month at Mathis Implement
We encourage everyone to checkout the 61st anniversary open house that will run February 11th through the 15th at Mathis Implement on West Highway 18 in Winner! There will be great deals all week long and a lunch will be served on Friday, February 15th from 11:30am to 2pm. There will be ten percent off cash purchases on parts all week long during the open house, excluding twine and net wrap.
Ice Fishing Tournament set for January 26th and 27th
The Kennebec Town and Country Club invites you to a big event next week! They will hold their ice fishing tournament on Saturday, January 26th and Sunday, January 27th next weekend! The rules meeting will start at 11am at the Prairie Dust Bar. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Presentation at the WCPH this week!
Winner High School will be presenting one act plays tonight through Saturday, January 19th at the Winner Community Playhouse beginning at 7:30pm. Doors will open at 7. The plays that are titled “Squish, “The Tale that Wagged the Dog” and Now with Ten Percent More Action” & “Maniac Manor” will be on display. Farm, Home and Sports Show coming to Chamberlain!
The 1st annual Chamberlain Farm, Home and Sports Show will be held Friday, February 22nd through Sunday, February 24th at the Arrowhead Cedar Shore Resort in Oacoma! There will be many vendors from our area and also from outside the area. There will be seminars each day from Game, Fish and Parks, Farmers Business Network and Farm Bureau Financial Services. Sanford will be doing heart screenings on Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, the 23rd.
Public meetings to happen in Colome and Wood this week
There will be a public meeting regarding the new school building for Colome Schools on Thursday, January 17th beginning at 7pm at the Colome Gym. There will be another meeting this Friday, the 18th in Wood at 7pm at the Community Hall. Come out and get all of the details on the new building!
