The 1st annual Sandhills Classic Bucking Horse Futurity will be held at the Johnstown Fairgrounds in Johnstown, Nebraska this Saturday, September 29th starting at 10am. Come out and watch the future bucking horses perform! This event is free to the public and spectators will be able to watch two and three year old bucking horses perform without a rider. This event is sanctioned by the World Futurity Association and is a qualifier for the World Futurity to be held in Las Vegas in December.

Grand opening celebration to happen in Burke
The grand opening celebration of Community Memorial Hospital in Burke will be held this Saturday, September 29th from 4 to 7pm! You get to enjoy a meal and a band starting at 5pm, plus tours of the facility, a bouncy house, face painting, fun prizes up for grabs and plenty more as everyone is welcome to attend this fun event!

Vivian Sweeney, northwest of Bassett, reported an inch ten.
Karla's Last Kall Poker Run to happen October 6th
The annual Karla’s last Kall ATV-UTV Poker Run is coming up on Saturday, October 6th beginning at 10:30am with registration and the poker run starting at 11am! Neon Nine Walk/Run coming up in Winner
A Neon Nine walk/run will take place on Saturday, October 6th at the Winner Golf Course. Registration will start at 5 and the race gets underway at 5:30pm. The cost to participate is twenty five dollars, which includes a race t-shirt and a meal. There will be a raffle drawing for a queen size star quilt, set of metal angels and other items to be added. All money raised will stay in the area to support breast cancer patients and survivors.
Fall Clean-Up going on in White River
It is clean up time Mellette County! The City of White River is having a fall clean-up take place now through October 6th. The city will not be hauling clean-up items. The landfill will be open on Saturday’s from 12noon to 4pm. Anyone needing to head out to the dump during the week needs to call Leroy at 605-840-2039 to arrange a time.
Blood drive happening in Winner this week
Community Connections of Winner will be sponsoring a blood drive at the Winner City Office Main Room today from Noon to 6:15, and on Tuesday, September 25th from 8am to 12:15pm. Couple of big events to happen this weekend
The Cherry-Todd Electric Cooperative’s annual business meeting of it’s members will be held this Saturday, September 22nd at the White River Community Events Center. Registration will start at 9am and the meeting will get underway at 10am. Refreshments and a light lunch will be served. Also on Saturday, is the Rosebud Chapter Mule Deer Foundation’s 1st annual Banquet at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner beginning at 5pm. There will be gun raffles, auction items and a delicious prime rib dinner.
Burke Livestock to hold annual BBQ Sale tomorrow
The Burke Livestock Auction wants to remind you that they will be holding their 51st annual Beef BBQ Sale this Saturday, September 22nd with 2500 head in the offering! Weigh-ups will sell at 10am, baby calves at 12 noon with yearling cattle to follow. The bbq lunch will start at 11am.

Rick Odenbach, six miles west of Hamill, reported an inch 80. Donna Howland said she has received an inch 20. Larry Sheppard in Mills reported 3.5 inches. Rick and Lin Shippy called in .55. Margie Kingsbury, northwest of Wood, reported .90. Pete Haukaas in Okreek said this morning he had .90 thus far. Stan Bicek, ten miles south of Colome, reported an inch 20. Dennis Hansen at Carlock called in an inch 30. Vivian Sweeney said she received .90 northwest of Bassett. Laura Reuer in Herrick reported an inch of rain. Short Haley reported 2.5 inches in Colome and .88 at Haley’s HiWay Lumber. Fred Weidner at Dog Ear Lake called in an inch 24. Delbert Klein has had an inch 90 fall, east of Burke. Brett Heath in Colome has had 2.10 inches fall. Cheryl Schroeder in Winner called in .81 while Tresh Swedlund said he has received two inches total.
