The Burke Livestock Auction wants to remind you that they will be holding their 51st annual Beef BBQ Sale this Saturday, September 22nd with 2500 head in the offering! Weigh-ups will sell at 10am, baby calves at 12 noon with yearling cattle to follow. The bbq lunch will start at 11am.

Central South Dakota rain reports
We had numerous people send in rain reports this morning. LaWaynie Hossle called in .80, three miles east of Hamill. Tod Meyer in Geddes received over 3.5 inches. Rick Odenbach, six miles west of Hamill, reported an inch 80. Donna Howland said she has received an inch 20. Larry Sheppard in Mills reported 3.5 inches. Rick and Lin Shippy called in .55. Margie Kingsbury, northwest of Wood, reported .90. Pete Haukaas in Okreek said this morning he had .90 thus far. Stan Bicek, ten miles south of Colome, reported an inch 20. Dennis Hansen at Carlock called in an inch 30. Vivian Sweeney said she received .90 northwest of Bassett. Laura Reuer in Herrick reported an inch of rain. Short Haley reported 2.5 inches in Colome and .88 at Haley’s HiWay Lumber. Fred Weidner at Dog Ear Lake called in an inch 24. Delbert Klein has had an inch 90 fall, east of Burke. Brett Heath in Colome has had 2.10 inches fall. Cheryl Schroeder in Winner called in .81 while Tresh Swedlund said he has received two inches total.
Roadshow coming to Colome on Monday
The Build Dakota Technical Institute Roadshow will be at the Colome High School on Monday, September 24th from 2:30 to 3:25 in the Study Hall Room. KBR scheduled power outage for Friday
KBR Rural Public Power District will be experiencing a scheduled power outage due to work being performed by their power supplier, NPPD. Work will begin this Friday, September 21st starting at 8am. Customers affected at this time will be from Valentine to Cody, the Ohlmstead addition, Marlboro Estates and south to Merrit Reservoir. This outage will last approximately four hours. Also on Friday, KBR customers served off of the Marsh Lake substation will see a one hour outage scheduled to begin at 1pm.
A busy Homecoming week in the area
We have seven of our area schools that are celebrating Homecoming this week: Winner, Kimball, Platte, Burke, Todd County, Rock County and Keya Paha County students are celebrating homecoming all week long! We hope you enjoy the rest of your homecoming week and stay safe!
Blood Drive coming up next week in Winner
Community Connections of Winner will be sponsoring a blood drive at the Winner City Office Main Room on Monday, September 24th from Noon to 6:15, and on Tuesday, the 25th from 8am to 12:15pm. Open House to happen on Thursday
A fall customer appreciation open house will be hosted by Agrimax and West River Ag Services of Winner on Thursday, September 20th with a social hour starting at 4pm. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. They will have some great early booking specials too. The open house will take place at 31710 Harvest Road in Winner. Neon Nine Walk/Run to happen October 6th in Winner
A Neon Nine walk/run will take place on Saturday, October 6th at the Winner Golf Course. Registration will start at 5 and the race gets underway at 5:30pm. The cost to participate is twenty five dollars, which includes a race t-shirt and a meal. There will be a raffle drawing for a queen size star quilt, set of metal angels and other items to be added. All money raised will stay in the area to support breast cancer patients and survivors.
Keya Paha County Homecoming information
The Keya Paha High School Homecoming is set for this Friday, September 21st! The football team will battle the Boyd County County Spartans at 7pm that night. The parade will start at 2:30 on Friday with the line-up at the High School by 2pm. The theme for the parade this year is ‘Board Games’. Spirit Days will go as follows: Monday- Twins Day. Tuesday- Circle of Life- either dress like a baby or the elderly. Wednesday- JH/HS: Teacher Day (Dress like your favorite teacher). Thursday- Decade Day- Dress like you were living in a different decade. Friday- Spirit Day- wear your jerseys and team shirts.
Busy weekend in Presho
A couple of big events are going on in Presho this weekend. First, Homecoming festivities will wrap up with the homecoming football game tonight between the Lyman Raiders and Hill City Rangers at 7pm. Then on Saturday, the Presho Citywide Cleanup is set to take place. City residents will not be charged to haul branches, wood, furniture, metal or concrete waste to the normal site this Saturday.
