Fireball Run coming to Gregory on the 29th!

The city of Gregory welcomes “The Fireball Run” to town! Everyone is invited to check it out on Friday, September 29th. 10am, a pancake feed will be held at the Gregory Fire Station. At 11:45, a pep rally will be held for the football game with Platte/Geddes. At 12:30, Gregory Mayor Scott Anshutz will present a key to the city to the Fireball Run host! Be sure to check it out next Friday in the town of Gregory!

Colome carnival to happen on the 30th

Something to keep in mind for next weekend, the Colome Athletic Department will be putting on a carnival on Saturday, September 30th from 5:30-9pm at the Vet’s Hall. They will have carnival games, bingo, a cake walk and food provided by the South Dakota National Guard. Proceeds will go towards painting and refurbishing the Vet’s Hall.

Tailgate cookout to happen Friday

The 23rd annual tailgate cookout will be held on Friday, September 22nd from 6-7pm before the Chamberlain vs Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central football game at Don Giese Field. Come out and help First Dakota National Bank show support to the High School and appreciation to the community! Go Cubs!

Pink Posse event set for October 7th

The Pink Posse 2017 neon walk/run will be held on October 7th at the Winner Golf Course. Registration will start at 5pm, the race will begin at 5:30 and a meal will follow. Registration includes a t-shirt, water bottle and meal. There will be a drawing for a quilt raffle donated by the Haukaas family along with a Yeti cooler and a one night stay at the Holiday Inn in Pierre. Please come out and help support breast cancer.

Wednesday reminders

The Community Services Program at Northwest Community Action Partnership (NCAP) will sponsor a mobile food pantry with the food bank of the heartland this evening from 5-7pm at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine. Remember that the Winner and Gregory Bakeries have reopened! Stop by and grab your favorite fresh rolls and baked goods!

News for next week

Just a reminder that the North Central Nebraska RC&D has changed their September meeting date to next Tuesday, September 26th beginning at 3:30 at the City Office Meeting Room in Bassett. Also for next week, the Springview Spit Fire’s 5K Color Run will be held on Wednesday, the 27th beginning at 6:30pm at the Springview Courthouse. This is a fundraiser for cancer research.

Burke Livestock to celebrate 50 years Saturday

Donivan Lambley and the crew at Burke Livestock Auction will hold their 50th anniversary barbecue sale this Saturday, September 23rd with a free barbecue being served starting at 11am! The sale will get underway at 10:30am with the weighups followed by the feeders at 12:30 in the afternoon. Come congratulate Donivan and the family on 50 years of business, where they say “US Beef, its what’s for dinner!”. We will hear from Dillion Lambley later this week on Country 1260 during the Farm and Ranch Review too.

Class of '77 to hold all-class reunion dance

The Winner High School Class of 1977 invites you to help them celebrate their 40th class reunion by attending their free all-class reunion dance on Friday, September 29th after the homecoming football game at St. Mary’s Hall in Winner. Doors will open at 8:30pm and you can enjoy the sounds of the Black Water Band from 9-1. A cash bar will be provided by Sargent’s and a fundraising concession stand will be on site that will be run by the Spirit Gems. All honored classes, graduates and non graduates of Winner High School are welcome, but no one under 21 will be admitted.

Chili feed to happen Thursday in Presho

The Families against Meth of Lyman County group will hold a chili feed at the Presho City Park this Thursday, September 21st running from 4-7pm. Come out and enjoy chili, chili dogs, games and activities for the entire family. All of the proceeds will go toward establishing a drug prevention program for the Lyman School District.

Big events coming up in Gregory

Tonight, Rosebud Electric Cooperative in Gregory will hold its annual meeting of their members beginning at 7:30pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium. There will be an election of three directors, great food and entertainment along with terrific door prizes! Later this month, the Fireball Run will be making a stop in Gregory County!
