A warm seven days ahead?

After the recent cold, damp weather we have seen in south central South Dakota it appears the weather is making a turn for the better! Temperatures are expected to be in 70’s and 80’s for the next seven days. The next decent chance of precipitation is next Wednesday when there is a chance for both showers and thunderstorms. Reminders for next week

Remember that Colome Grade School’s annual Field Day is coming up for first through sixth graders on Monday, May 8th from 10am-3pm. A picnic lunch will be served at the Track. All parents are invited to attend. On Tuesday, May 9th, the Community Fellowship meal will be hosted by Hull Dental Health from 6-7pm at the Gregory Memorial Auditorium’s Community Room. The Valentine School Board will meet next week. Their meeting is scheduled for Tuesday the 9th at 5pm at Valentine High School.

Register for Friday's Teach SD Class in Winner

Do some of you have technology questions or maybe an interest in learning how to use your smart phone, computer, tablet, Facebook or apps? You can register for a free one hour Teach South Dakota Class that is scheduled for every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm at Grossenburg Implement in Winner! Spring event to happen in Reliance on Friday

The Greater Lyman Foundation would like to let you know that their annual spring event will be held this Friday, May 5th! This years event will be held at the Legion Hall in Reliance. It will start at 6pm with a meal and entertainment will be provided by the Dueling Duos to follow. The pre-paid cost is twenty dollars a person. A couple of reminders for the weekend

Coming up on Saturday, Sinte Gleska University will hold a surplus vehicle auction starting at 9am at the Sinte Gleska Horse Ranch. They will be selling trucks and vans. For details you can call 856-8100. The crazy lawnmower racers will be in action this weekend at the Puk U Bar in Pukwana Saturday night! Races will start at 8 and Calcutta is at 7:30. The races are being sponsored by Buzzards Bar and Grill.

Last monthly horse sale in Gregory today

The last monthly horse sale is taking place at the Gregory Livestock Auction today. The sale will start with the tack selling at 12:30pm and horses at 1pm. There will be a customer appreciation dinner that will be held beginning at 11am this morning to say thank you for many great years of business in Gregory. Come out and check the sale and say thank you to the employees for their years of service!

4-H Clothing Drive going on now

The Tripp County 4-H Youth Group is taking part in a statewide clothing drive project now until the end of July! If you would like to help out and donate items to this big project, you can drop off your items at the Tripp County 4-H Extension Office that is located inside the Tripp County Courthouse in Winner. This project will run through July 31st.

Reminders for this week

Colome Grade Schools annual Field Day will take place this Wednesday starting at 10am and will end at 3pm. A picnic lunch will be served at the Track. Clean Up Day will be held on Friday in Gregory. Make sure you have your items sorted and by the street by the end of the day Tuesday. Burke will hold their annual citywide cleanup this Thursday and Friday, May 4th and 5th. The spring banquet fundraiser for West River Pheasants Forever is coming up on Saturday at the Draper Auditorium beginning at 5pm.

Keep the Food Pantry in Platte stocked up!

The Helping Hands Community Food Pantry in Platte reminds everyone from the community to help keep their pantry stocked with goods throughout the week. Items can be dropped off at the pantry on Wednesday’s from 1-5pm or in the blue food pantry totes at various churches throughout the Platte community. Your help with the food pantry is greatly appreciated!

Bring the whole family to the horse races!

This weekend will be the opening weekend for the Horse Races at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre! Opening Day is Saturday, April 29th. There will be free admission this weekend and you will also get a free Coke, hot dog, brat or barbecue sandwich on Saturday. Post time will be 1pm sharp. If you have questions on the races for the season you can call Dave at 222-3008. There will also be races happening May 6th and the 7th too.
