A few weekend reminders

Here are some of the many things going on in our area this weekend: Wild West Steakhouse will hold the Al and Robin Going Fishing Party tonight! Stop by for food, drinks, music and lots of fun. Doors will open at 5. An FFA Glow Run will happen tonight at the Bassett Country Club beginning at 8:30pm. The annual Chamberlain Bowling Awards Banquet will happen tonight at Al’s Oasis. Social Hour will start at 6. Tomorrow night the Winner Area Chamber of Commerce will present their annual Nite at the Races event. Stop by the Black Lab for the horse races!

Teach SD Class going on today

Do some of you have technology questions or maybe an interest in learning how to use your smart phone, computer, tablet, Facebook or apps? You can register for a free one hour Teach South Dakota Class that is scheduled for every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm at Grossenburg Implement in Winner! If you want to register you can call 842-1533.

Five proms being celebrated this weekend!

Five of our area schools will be celebrating prom this weekend! Students at Colome Schools will celebrate tomorrow night. Saturday night, students at Ainsworth, Keya Paha County, Burke and White Lake will have prom night. We are winding down the prom season as we will have just one area school left to celebrate prom after Saturday- Winner students have prom on Saturday, April 29th. Have a fun and safe prom from your friends here at KWYR.

Keep the Platte Food Pantry stocked with goods

The Helping Hands Community Food Pantry in Platte reminds everyone from the community to help keep their pantry stocked with goods. Items can be dropped off at the pantry on Wednesday’s from 1-5pm or in the blue food pantry totes at various churches throughout the Platte community. Your help with the food pantry is greatly appreciated!

4-H Clothing Drive going on through the summer

The Tripp County 4-H Youth Group is taking part in a statewide clothing drive project now until the end of July! If you would like to help out and donate items to this big project, you can drop off your items at the Tripp County 4-H Extension Office that is located inside the Tripp County Courthouse in Winner. This project will run through July 31st.

Statewide Tornado Drill and Storm Spotter training coming up this month

There will be a statewide Tornado Drill happening next Wednesday, April 26th. It will start with a watch followed by a tornado warning and the whistles will sound in each Tripp County town. The warning will start at around 10:15am. On Thursday, April 27th, there will be a storm spotter training course at the Valentine Fire Hall. There will be a course at 2pm and 6pm. Pre-School Screening and Kindergarten news

It is time for Winner Pre-School registration! Pre-School visits will be on Tuesday, April 25th from 8-11am and from 12:30-3:30 with Nursery School Visits on Monday the 24th from 8-10:30am and 1-3. Lyman Kindergarten and Pre-School screenings will be held on Thursday, April 27th from 8:15-Noon and from 1-3:30. There will be more screenings on Friday, the 28th from 8:15-Noon and from 1-3 at the Kennebec Gymnasium. Kindergarten pre-registration at Valentine Elementary has begun. Registration forms are available at the Elementary School. For more information call the school at 402-376-3237.

A busy Tuesday in the area!

We have plenty going on locally today: the annual Big Bend Shrine Circus will be back at the Chamberlain Armory tonight with two shows at 4:30 and at 7:15. Tickets are available at the door. Frontier Motors will hold their Buick Drive for the Winner School event today from 10am to 2pm at Winner High School! Also happening in town today is a Job Fair from 10:30am to 1pm at the Winner Auxiliary Gym.

Blood Drives for next week

We have a couple of blood drives coming up that we wanted to remind you about for next week. A blood drive will happen on Tuesday, April 25th at the Butte Community Center from 2:45-5:30. To make an appointment call Phyllis at 402-832-5777. A blood drive is set to take place on Wednesday, April 26th at the Burke Civic Center from 11:30am to 5:45pm. Bassett Glow Run coming up this Friday!

An FFA Glow Run will take place at the Bassett Country Club this week! The event will happen on Friday, April 21st starting at 8:30pm. Registration forms can be found at Rock County Schools.org or at the Rock County School. All of the proceeds will go toward Luke and Michelle Bulau to help defray medical costs. Everyone is welcome to attend.
