We have six of our area schools that will be holding graduation ceremonies this Saturday, May 20th. Todd County, Gregory, Winner, Lyman, White River and Platte/Geddes Schools will be holding ceremonies. We want to wish all seniors the best of luck in their future endeavors and to have a fun and safe weekend celebrating!

Seminar to happen May 25th in Winner
A customer service seminar will take place on Thursday, May 25th from 1-4pm at the 4-H Center in Winner. Dee Dee Rapp will speak on how great customer service can grow your business. Remember that this is a free seminar and is sponsored by SD Tourism, Tripp County and the Winner Area Chamber of Commerce. To register call Karla at 842-1533.
Farm and Ranch Clinic coming up in Valentine
There will be a free Farm and Ranch Clinic that will be held on Thursday, June 1st in Valentine at the Cherry County Extension Office. This clinic specializes in legal and financial issues relating to farming and ranching, financial planning, estate and transition planning, farm loan programs, debtor/creditor law, water and other relevant matter. Rain reports from Tuesday
We had numerous people send in rainfall reports to KWYR this morning. Stan Bicek who lives ten miles south of Colome received a half inch of rain. Ben Huber in White River call in an inch fifteen. Blaine Krogman who lives twenty miles southwest of White River received 2.15 inches of rain! Pete Haukaas of Okreek received 30/100’s. Vivian Sweeney, sixteen miles northwest of Bassett, called in 35/100’s. Cheryl Schroeder of Winner received 25/100’s. Donna Howland, two miles southeast of Winner, said she received 30/100’s. Charlotte Piper who lives nine miles south of Wood called in 35/100’s and Dennis Hansen at Carlock recieved .12 of rain Tuesday.
Big event coming up in Presho Saturday!
Frontier Motors will present the Flying V Extreme Buckin’ at the Barn this Saturday, May 20th at the Presho Sale Barn! Come out and watch some of the top bull riders in the world take on the top bucking bulls. Tickets will be ten dollars at the gate. There will be a dance that will follow at Jet Lanes. Graduation Day in Gregory!
The Gregory Kindergarten Graduation ceremony will take place this afternoon! The ceremony is set for May 16th starting at 1pm. The Gregory eighth grade graduation will also be held later. The eighth graders will have their ceremony start at 7pm tonight. Both graduation ceremonies will happen at the Gregory Auditorium. Congrats to all the boys and girls who will be graduating!
Winner American Legion news for Wednesday
The Winner American Legion Ladies will be putting poppies on crosses for the Memorial Day program on Wednesday, May 17th this week starting at 1pm at the Avenue of Flags building, one block north of First Fidelity Bank. If you would like to help it would be greatly appreciated. Please bring a lawn chair with you to the event as well.
Reminders for today
Here are a few reminders on what will be taking place tonight in our area: The Cherry County Extension Board will meet tonight at 7pm at the Extension Office in Valentine. The Brule-Lyman Lincoln Day Dinner will be held this evening at Cedar Shore in Oacoma starting at 5:30. The Platte/Geddes Athletic Banquet will be held this evening at Platte Elementary School inside the Multipurpose Room beginning at 6pm.
Take mom to a buffet this weekend!
There are some tremendous buffet options for you to choose from on Sunday to make your mom’s weekend a perfect one. Sargent’s in Winner will start their lunch buffet at 11am Sunday morning and will feature roast beef, turkey and dressing, chicken and all the trimmings along with a salad bar and dessert. The Holiday House in Winner invites everyone on out for their Mother’s Day Buffet. They’ll feature broasted chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad bar and dessert. Al’s Oasis in Chamberlain/Oacoma will be serving their mothers day buffet on Sunday from 11-2:30. They will be serving baked chicken, baked swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy. Join them after 5 for a streak and shrimp special too!
