Winner Youth Rodeo results

The Winner Youth Rodeo was held on Sunday in Winner. Here’s a look at the results:

In the 4-8 girls all around:

Jacey Fulton of Miller finished in first.

In reserved there was a tie between Loretta Niewenhuis of Corsica and Presley Wilde of Virgil.

In 4-8 Boys,

All around went to Hayon Kartak of Clearfield.

In reserve there was a tie between Jhett Buoy of Winner and Tritt Peterson of Hitchcock.

In 9-B Girls,

All around went to Quin VanWinkle of Tyndall. Reserve went to Josie Hamil of Kimball.

In 9-B Boys,

All Around went to Stetson Niewenhuis of Corsica. Reserve went to Kix Coleman of Woonsocket.

In 14-16 girls,

All around went to Brooklyn Bailey of Bonesteel.

Reserve went to Reata Kiehn of Plankinton.

In 14-16 boys, all around went to Destry Wilking of Hartford. Reserve went to Ryggan Lambley of Burke.

Reliance Legion Hall to host a brunch on Sunday

A pancake and sausage brunch along with biscuits & gravy will be served tomorrow at the Reliance Legion Hall from 9am to 1pm.  Thrivent Financial will make a monetary contribution to the Post to help with expenses, and it’s all for a free will offering.  The brunch is being sponsored by American Legion Post #179, Kennebec & Reliance.

Cowboy Fair coming up August 15th in Colome

Colome will host their annual Cowboy Fair on August 15th. A corn hole tournament will happen at Skatetown from 3-5pm, root beer floats will be served at the legion from 4-5, bingo will happen at the legion from 5 to 6:30, a farmers market will be setup at the park from 4 to 7, a dunk tank will be setup on Main Street from 5 to 6:30, and a cowboy supper will be served on Main Street from 6:30 to 7:30.

Accident in White River results in fatality on Saturday

A person was killed after being struck by a semi-truck on Saturday near White River on Saturday on Highway 83.  According to the Mellette County Sherrif’s Office at approximately 11am, a semi-truck traveling south bound on US Highway 83 struck a female, approximately eight miles south of White River.  who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Rosebud Sioux Tribal Police are investigating the incident. Further details will be released in the coming days.
