Severe Weather once again made an appearance this afternoon and evening in Central South Dakota. Warnings started to roll out just prior to 4:30. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Lyman, Charles Mix, Tripp, Gregory and Brule Counties. Wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour were reported, along with quarter size hail across the area.

Mid Dakota Fair to get underway today in Winner
The Mid Dakota Fair will take place at the Tripp County 4-H Center today through August 2nd. Events will include the 4-H Rocket Launch on July 30th, Stem Challenge on July 31st, The 4-H Swine, Sheep and Market Goat Shows will all happen on August 1st. The Breeding Beef and Market Beef Shows are some of the many things that will happen on August 2nd.
Severe Weather makes it’s presence felt Monday in Central South Dakota
Severe Weather hit Central South Dakota this afternoon and evening. The first warning was issued after 3:30pm this afternoon, and many warnings followed that initial warning. There were tornado warnings issued for Todd, Lyman, Buffalo, Brule, Charles Mix, Tripp and Gregory Counties. Several tornadoes were reported on the ground this evening. Severe thunderstorm warnings were also issued for most of our Central South Dakota counties, with some reports of two inches in diameter hail, and 60 mile per hour wind gusts. There were also reported fires due to lightning, with response from our area fire departments.
Pool Movie night to happen Friday in Presho
The Presho City Pool will be hosting a pool movie night this Friday, August 1st. The movie will start at 9:15 as they will be showing the film, Monsters, Inc. There will be a $5 entry fee per person for the fun night.
Wood to hold all-school reunion August 9th
The Wood All-School Reunion is set for next month! The reunion will take place on Saturday, August 9th. It will take place inside the Wood Gym beginning at 5pm. There will be a silent auction at 5:30, and dinner will be served starting at 6pm that night.
Chamberlain looking for a new Cub mascot
Chamberlain High School is looking for someone to be the Cub mascot for the upcoming school year. They are looking for someone who has a lot of energy and will represent the school in a professional manner. If interested, email Anna Pazour at anna.pazour@k12.sd.us.
125 year celebration in Platte continues this weekend
Platte has their 125 year celebration happening through the end of the day tomorrow! Mac’s Carnival is setup at South Park and will be open to the public from 6-11pm tonight and tomorrow night. Weston Frank will perform tonight beginning at 8pm at South Park.
Burke Area Farmer’s Market returns this evening
The Burke Area Farmer’s Market will return this evening at 5:30 at the Burke City Park. Cahoy’s Kitchen will be serving supper from 5:30 to 7pm. Grass Widow will perform a concert following the market starting at approximately 7:15 at the City Park.
