Mid Dakota Fair gets underway tomorrow

The Mid Dakota Fair will get underway tomorrow in Winner. From 5-7:30pm, will be the entering of the open class exhibits. Starting at 5pm will be the 4-H display exhibit judge orientation. From 5-7pm will be the consumer decision making contest. From 5-7 will be when the silent auction items get dropped off. From 5:15 to 7:30 will be the entering and interviewing of 4-H display exhibits.

BBQ Pit Row Winners from Saturday

The Winner Area Chamber of Commerce held their Barbecue Pit Row event on Saturday. Here’s a look at the winners:

1st place ribs: Knee Deep BBQ
2nd place ribs: Platte Locker
3rd place ribs: J Squared BBQ

1st place pork butt: Checkered BBQ
2nd place pork butt: Smoked Encounters of the 3rd Swine
3rd place pork butt: KD’s BBQ

1st place brisket: Platte Locker
2nd place brisket: Checkered BBQ
3rd place brisket: RJ Bones

Overall Champion: Checkered BBQ

 

Ivan and Samantha Foote won the Beanbag Tournament.

For the Frontier Motors Car Show at the event,

Gene Brumbaugh was awarded best of show.
Gene was first in Class 100- Up to 1964

In Class 200- 1965 to 1972, Jeff Schwartz was first overall

In Class 300- 1973 to present stock, Russ Lauritson was first overall

In Class 400- up to 1964, Bob and Roxie Thiek finished in first place

In Class 500- 1965-72, Wayne Willuweit was first overall

In Class 600, 1973- present modified, Ryan DeMers was first overall

In Class 700, Stock Pickup, Craig Schaeffer was first overall

In Class 800, Modified Pickup, Tagg Weller was first overall

In Class 900, Street Rods, Ron McCready placed first overall.

Big event in Platte tomorrow

The Platte Area Chamber of Commerce is putting on the Hometown Craft and Vendor Market on Saturday, July 29th.   It will take place at the Platte Community Building from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The cost is $40 for a booth and $5 for a table.  If you have any questions, you can contact the Platte Area Chamber at 605-337-2275.
