Big weekend in Chamberlain and Johnstown

The Middle of Nowhere Bull Riding and Bullfighting Challenge will be held at the Brown County Fairgrounds in Johnstown, Nebraska this Saturday at 7:30pm. A dance will be held afterward with the Prairie Fire Band playing. The River City Rumble Demolition Derby will take place on Saturday beginning at 1pm at the new track location in Chamberlain. Take I-90, Exit 265 and go north a quarter mile, then go west of Shopko a half mile. They will also hold a candy scramble too.

In little league baseball last night, the Clearfield Rookies defeated Winner Gold, 4-1. Cooper Craven got the win on the mound. The Clearfield Minors beat Winner Gold, 11-1. Derek Fenenga was the winning pitcher. The Clearfield Majors were able to shutout Winner Gold, 15-0. Zac Olsen and Conner Osborn combined for the win. The Gregory 1 Rookies beat Mission, 4-3. The Gregory 1 Minors defeated Mission, 9-6. The Gregory 1 Majors were able to outslug Mission, 22-9. The Burke Majors fell to Gregory 2 by a final of 14-11. The Winner Purple Majors got a victory over Colome, 10-2. The Burke Rookies were able to hold off Gregory 2, 3-2.

In amateur baseball last night, the Alexandria Angels defeated Winner/Colome, 12-8. The Platte Killer Tomatoes moved their record to 2-0 on the season as they picked up a home victory over Parkston, 10-6. Richard Sternberg hit a home run and drove in three runs for the Killer Tomatoes. In White Lake last night, Miller defeated Kimball/White Lake, 8-2. Jordan Hanten had a run batted in for Kimball/White Lake. In Gregory, Plankinton defeated the South Central Storm in seven innings, 16-1.
