Region 4A Cross Country from Thursday

Congratulations to Coach Jayd Schuyler and the Winner Area Girls on winning the Region 4A Cross Country team title yesterday in Chamberlain! The girls finished with 26 points while Todd County was second with 33 points. Chamberlain’s Ella Byers won the girls race while Winner’s Sidda Schuyler finished second. Five Winner girls finished in the top ten in yesterday’s race. In the boys Region 4A race, Miller’s Cole Sargent finished in first place. Winner’s top runner was Izak Meleterno, who finished seventh overall. Stanley County won the team title while Todd County finished second.

Preview for our games of the week for Friday night!

Tomorrow night we will provide you with coverage of two high school football games. Chris will have coverage from White Lake on 93.7FM as Kimball/White Lake will host the top ranked Gregory Gorillas. Kimball/White Lake (3-3) has had to battle through another tough regular season schedule. The combined win-loss record for all the teams that the Wildkats have played this season is 24-13. Dale Taylor’s team will look to bounce back after last weeks loss to Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central, 38-36. Brian Allmendinger’s Gorillas (7-0) will play in their regular season finale tomorrow night before shifting their focus to the playoffs. Top ranked Gregory beat Hill City last Friday, 54-14. Gregory won last year’s regular season game against Kimball/White Lake, 52-20 in Gregory. Pre-game coverage will begin at 6:30 on Magic 93! Scott and Brett will have coverage from Warrior Field tomorrow night on Country 1260 when top ranked Winner hosts Redfield/Doland. The Warriors (6-0) beat Parkston on the road last week, 48-16. Winner will close out the regular season with home games against the Pheasants then next Thursday against Jones County/White River. Redfield/Doland is 2-5 on the season and are coming off a tough loss against Mobridge-Pollock last week, 21-15. The Pheasants have played some solid competition this season as they have fallen to Aberdeen Roncalli, Groton Area, Parkston and Milbank. Tomorrow night will be the regular season finale for Redfield/Doland. Pre-game coverage on 1260AM will start at 6:30.

Region Cross Country from Wednesday

The Region 3B Cross Country Meet was held yesterday in Freeman. Winning the girls race was Kini Po Hart of Marty. Kimball’s Oakley Jandreau finished second overall. Lacey Person of Burke/South Central came in fifth. Kimball finished first as a team while Freeman was second and Burke/South Central was third. On the boys side, Burke/South Central’s Kray Person was victorious. Finishing second was Thaniel Schroeder of Freeman Academy while Aaron Voight of Gregory came in third. Freeman Academy won the team title while Burke/South Central was second and Mitchell Christian placed third.  The Region 4B Cross Country Meet was held in Gettysburg on Wednesday. Lyman was able to qualify three runners for state. Brenden Estes is state bound as he finished ninth overall. On the girls side, Alyssa Jones and Madison Brown finished 15th and 19th overall to qualify for state for Lyman. We also want to congratulate the White River boys Cross Country team as they finished as the runners up in the Region 5B meet yesterday in Philip.

Hoops for Coop fundraiser to happen this weekend in Presho

Sanford Pentagon Basketball will be holding a ‘Hoops for Coop’ fundraiser this Saturday in Presho! This is a fundraiser for Cooper Garnos, who was diagnosed with cancer. A camp will run at the Presho Gymnasium at Lyman Gardens from 9:30-11am on Saturday morning for boys and girls in grades 7-12, and from 11am-12:30 for those in grades 2-6. The cost is $25 with 100 percent of the money going to the fund.
