Tripp County Commissioner meeting to happen on Friday

The public is encouraged to attend the Tripp County Commissioner meeting on Friday, July 31st at 10am.  On the agenda will be a request to the County Commissioners to hold a public meeting regarding the passing of an emergency zoning ordinance.  This ordinance will set a temporary pause on the establishment and construction on any new large scale commercial livestock confinements, which will allow the county to conduct critical studies that are needed on public health, infrastructure, electrical and water use.

The 57th annual Winner Elk’s Benefit Rodeo wrapped up on Sunday night at the Tripp County Fairgrounds. Here’s a look at the results:

Bareback Riding- Lane Stuwe of Hoven with a score of 76

Saddle Bronc Riding- Cy Hughson of Crawford. Nebraska with a score of 83

Bull Riding- Burke Vanderpool of Bison, South Dakota with a score of 75.

Tie Down Roping- Billy Waln of Martin, South Dakota with a time of 10.1 seconds

Steer Wrestling- Beau Wiebelhaus of Springview. Nebraska with a time of 5.8 seconds

Mixed Team Roping- Bodell and Lane Hall of Sutherland, Nebraska with a time of 7.5 seconds

Sr Men’s Breakaway- tie for first between Myron Heathershaw of Martin, South Dakota and Chuck Hamlin of Highmore, South Dakota who both finished in 3.1 seconds.

Team Roping- Coy Ludemann of Fort Pierre, South Dakota and Jaten Jewedt of Beresford. South Dakota in 5.5 seconds.

Barrel Racing- Madison Helfrich of Winner in 18.04 seconds

Goat Tying- Kassidy Dunagan of Whitehall, Montana in 9.6 seconds

Breakaway Roping- Libby Diedricks of Wall, South Dakota in 1.9 seconds

 

National High School Finals Rodeo highlights

Here’s a look at a few of the highlights from the National High School Finals Rodeo on Saturday in Lincoln. Nebraska:

 

Taos Weborg of Gregory County tied for 9th in Bull Riding in the short go. Roper Moore of Tripp County finished 12th in the short go in boys cutting. Team South Dakota finished fifth in the world in the girls team standings, while the boys team finished third in the world.
