The Gregory/Dallas Chamber has their Harvest Festival coming up on September 19th at the Gregory City Park. Events will get underway at 2pm. Soup and pie tasting will run from 5 to 7. If you would like to make a soup or bake a pie, call the Chamber at 835-8270.

Southern Plains of Gregory will be holding a butterfly release this evening beginning at 6:30pm at the Gregory City Park Performance Center. The guest speaker will be Kate Cook. The event is in recognition of Suicide Awareness Month.

The 74th Annual Meeting of the Golden West Telecommunications Cooperative is coming up on Saturday, Sept 26th beginning at 11am at the Community Center in Wall. Registration starts will begin at 9:30AM.

Winner High School Student Council members are looking for the perfect candidate to be the 2026 Homecoming Parade Marshal.  If you have an individual who you feel deserves this honor, please send a detailed description of the individual’s background and why you feel he or she deserves to be Parade Marshal. Homecoming is the week of September 21st – 25th.  The theme this year is Blast from the Past.

A fire broke out in Mission this morning at Sunrise Apartments.  Courtesy of the Mission Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page, crews responded to a call early Sunday morning in the 5am hour at the Apartment Complex. Upon arrival, the department reported a working fire in three apartment units, along with smoke that was reported to be coming from the roof. As of late morning, the Mission Fire Department , along with other area Fire Departments and Cherry Todd Electric were continuing to put out hotspots from the fire. Further details will be revealed once they become available to us. 

Homecoming will be celebrated this upcoming week in Ainsworth! The theme is ‘Unmask the Bulldog Pride’. The parade will start at 10am on Friday. Their football game will be Friday at 2pm against North Central, and coronation will happen after the game.

Winner will hold a traditional Wacipi on September 5th and 6th at the Winner Community Event Center. It will be a drug and alcohol free event, and a meal will be provided both days. The event will start at 1pm each day with grand entry at 7pm each night

Not looking to cook supper this evening? No problem! The Burke Area Farmers Market will be back at the Burke City Park this evening from 5:30 to 7pm. The Burke Riding Club will be serving up delicious cowboy quesadillas. Numerous different kinds of produce will be available for purchase too.

Tim Pravecek of Winner has been selected to be inducted into the South Dakota 4-H Shooting Sports Volunteer Hall of Fame! Pravecek will be recognized at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron on Sunday, September 6th. A reception and induction ceremony for this year’s Hall of Fame Inductees will begin at 4pm in the North Classroom in the Nordby Exhibit Hall.
