Valentine Chamber Board Recommendations

The Valentine Chamber of Commerce is making the following recommendations for candidates to fill the four vacancies on the Board of Directors.

Additional candidates for the Board can be nominated by petition.  The nominee must be a current member in good standing of the Valentine Chamber of Commerce and the nomination must be received in the Chamber office no later than March 31st.

First Fidelity Banks COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Response

Statement from First Fidelity Bank:

With our customers, employees and communities being our top priority, we have been continuing to monitor any changes with COVID-19.

With the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) gathering guidelines being groups of ten or fewer, First Fidelity Bank feels at this time it is best to close all lobbies and perform transactions via
drive-up window, mobile banking, online banking or phone call.

Effective March 20th until further notice, access to the inside of our branches will be available by appointment only. All our services will continue to be available to you.

To schedule an appointment, please call your local branch – you will be screened before entry. FFB is taking this critical step, along with many others, to help with social distancing, which has been
identified as a key deterrent to the spread of the virus.

Colome Consolidated School District Letter for Community

Colome Consolidated School District Families. I hope you all are doing well and staying safe. This is a difficult time that has made our ways of life harder. Our number one goal is for students to be safe, but we also need our students to be educated. The Colome Staff is meeting on Tuesday to finalize the flexible learning plan. You will be contacted by Wednesday of next week to know each students learning plan. Plan on your children working either online, or in packets starting Thursday March 26th.

Also starting Monday there will be a Grab and Go Lunch Program. If you have a child that attends the Colome School, all children in the household will get a free meal. They must be under the age of 19, and living in your household to receive a meal. It will run Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The meals will be picked up in the lunchroom. Wood students we will have the meals delivered each day around noon.

Chaduza Cook Off in Valentine

The Annual Chamber Chaduza Cook Off in Valentine, Nebraska will take place on Saturday, June 13th which is also happens to be the 100th anniversary for the city park.   Teams will compete for honors and prize money in three categories; ribs, chicken, and burgers.  Volunteers are needed and one can sign up by calling the chamber office at 402-376-5138.

South Dakota Enhanced at Pharmco

There will be an enhanced course held at Pharmco in Platte, SD on Friday, March 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

No On-Campus Instruction at Winner School District until further Notice

This is a message from the Winner School District regarding the COVID-19 situation. This information will also be available on the school district website. There will be no on-campus instruction at the Winner School District for all grade levels until further notice. Students in grades Begindergarten through grade 5 will pick up learning packets each Monday at the Elementary front entry from 10am – 2pm starting March 23rd. These learning packets will also be available online at the district website. For students in grades 6-12 staff will use google classroom to deliver coursework to the students. Students may pick up their computers and books on Monday, March 23rd from 10am – 2pm. There will also be no parent teacher conferences this spring.
Lunch will be available via a drive-thru pickup at the front of the armory for all children in our district from age 0-18 from 12pm – 1pm Monday through Friday until regular school resumes. The child must be in the vehicle to receive a meal. Lunch will continue to be delivered to the Winner and Ideal communities.

RST Commodity Food Program Currently Limited

Mission, SD- The RST Commodity Food Program will be severely limited with no more than six program participants allowed access.

Public access will be through the northeast door only and the northwest door will be used as an exit only.

Program participants who are diagnosed with flu or have flu like symptoms are encouraged to stay home, and send their authorized representative to up their groceries.

Custom Touch Homes Open House

Custom Touch Homes in Madison, South Dakota is holding an open house on Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th.  Friday hours will be Noon to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday hours 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The event will allow individuals to see new offerings in 2020 and future years.
