The Clearfield Hall’s annual Soup Supper is coming up on Sunday, November 1st from 4 to 7pm for a free will offering. There will be a Silent Auction and Country Store during the event too.

Where:  U.S. 183 at mile marker 56, 18 miles south of Presho, South Dakota
When:   11:30 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2026

Driver 1: 37-year-old male from Wood, South Dakota, fatal injuries
Vehicle 1: 2022 Dodge Ram 2500

Seat Belt Used: No

Driver 2: 67-year-old male from Winner, South Dakota, minor injuries
Vehicle 2: 1997 Freightliner FDL120

Seat Belt Used: Yes

Tripp County, S.D.- A Wood man died Saturday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash near Presho, South Dakota on October 5, 2026.

Names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2022 Dodge Ram 2500 was parked on U.S. 183’s northbound shoulder while he removed a trailer tire. He returned to his vehicle and did a U-turn towards Winner. At the same time, the driver of a 1997 Freightliner FDL120 was traveling southbound hauling gravel. The Freightliner collided with the Dodge. The driver of the Dodge was transported to a Winner hospital. He died from his injuries on October 10, 2026. The driver of the freightliner sustained minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. All information released is preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

A pancake and sausage brunch , along with biscuits & gravy are being served at the Reliance Legion Hall today from 9am to 1pm.  It’s all for a free will offering.  The brunch is being sponsored by American Legion Post #179 of Kennebec and Reliance.

The Southern Belle Cattlewomen will hold a Beef Fest Beef Buffet on October 16th from 11:30am to 1:30pm the Tripp County 4H Center in Winner.  You can enjoy Dine in or get take out.  A $10 donation is suggested.

The Winner Catholic Church will hold their annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 11th from 4:30 to 6:30 at St. Mary’s Hall. They will be serving a full turkey dinner. Tickets for carry out, dine in and delivery are available at the Parish Office, Marty’s and at the door. For in-city delivery, call 840-2003 between 4:30 and 6:30 on Sunday.

Community Connections of Winner will be holding a series of Halloween Family Fun Nights on October 14th, 28th and the 31st at the Connection Building. You can bob for apples, enjoy apple cider and cookies, games for kids will be provided along with a haunted house from 6 to 8pm each of the three nights.

The Gregory County Historical Society will meet on Wednesday October 14th.  There will be a meal at 6:30 with the annual meeting to follow.  Also, they ask that you bring an item to share that is relevant to your family history or the history of the area.
